Forums - Microsoft - Could 1 vs 100 be a system seller?

I am just wondering...

Microsoft has said that 1 vs 100 will give away real prizes.  What if they said that one of those prizes would be a tournament that by the end of the year they would give one lucky winner $1,000,000...

Do you think that would convince more people to buy a 360 over other consoles...  Think about it, a parent walks into Best Buy, they see three consoles, to them there is no difference.  Then, they see the sticker on the 360 box that says "Play Online 1 vs 100 to win $1,000,000".  With 360 being the lowest priced console might that push them to buy one?

I know gamers will choose the console they are fans of, but for the rest of the people this may push them to 360, especially if a heavy advertising campaign came with it.

Probably not. But 1 vs 100 will not be the only Primetime game. Maybe as a whole, this could be a pretty big thing. I, for one, am going to try and win that car in May. Should be fun.

I think they'll give MS Points , DLC codes and on holidays something bigger, but a system , probably not.

But war... war never changes

It has the potential to be, if people on your buddy list are all having fun with it word could spread fast.

And it may even become a hit with the family.

I think it will raise online activity and by extension bringing in more cash online. NXE already accomplished this.

I'm interested in seeing the other games they offer to be available to play. And it better be free or their missing the opportunity.

Microsoft confirmed it to be free for gold members.

So it's not free then.

I think Microsoft is missing the point with the casual market they're trying to target. "Casual" gamers aren't stupid or attracted by shiny stickers saying "Win $$$". They still want a console that has the games they want - and, at the moment, those games are Wii Sports, Brain Training and Nintendogs. There's not even one game on the Xbox 360 that has demonstrably appealed to the casual market enough to sell a few million copies.

I guess it is a perk for paying for Gold. I'm going to go ahead and guess that Silver members wont be able to play it at all because they can't play games online with other people. I agree that all members, silver and gold, should be able to play this. This should be an out of the box perk that can show how much fun the 360 could be.

I guess they don't want a bunch of Silver members gonig on it and winning all the prizes like Gold memberships while the Gold members could end up with nothing when they paid for it? I don't know.

Excellent.

I bet there are still a lot of people out there that don't know that the current gen systems have online capabilities..

So perhaps its not a system seller..
