Football builds up more permanent and long term damage. Not to mention you have to putyourself in an unhealthy condition just to play. (How big you get.)

There is no hard data on the average lifespan of a soccer player.

But speaking from personal experiences a lot of them die fairly early from heart complications. About two months ago 3 former players from my team died, all in their 50's/60's. I can't say for sure that the two are related, but I would imagine soccer puts a lot of strain on your heart.
