Uh...this is not the first game to allow console and PC gamers to play against each other...I'm pretty sure the recent Shadowrun also had that.

The ability to make maps and then play them on PS3 is cool...though mapmakers will have to own both the PC game and PS3 game it sounds like...

Unless, and this is what I am hoping for, they put up player made maps for download in the game or the PS store, like LittleBigPlanet for example. Players make stuff and others download 'em.

Now that would make this really worthwhile to more than just the ppl who own both versions which I don't think will be many.

It's not too worth it if they don't make these user created maps downloadable on the PS3.

If they do it like UT2k4 you will just download the map if you don't have it as you are loading onto a server that is currently playing a map you don't have.  Some maps can take a long time if they have custom stuff, but a lot of them use existing textures and such so they aren't too bad.

I wouldn't be surprised if they gave a PS store option also though.  Since there were also map packs and such you could download off the net that were really popular. It makes a lot of sense both ways honestly.

Anyways on the modding issue itself, everything I have read/heard basically says PC version can do mods PS3 can't.  But the PS3 will have full access to the mods made by the community and should have no problems playing on custom content. They just won't be able to make it is all.  Which honestly, I think if that is a big selling point for somebody they will probably know it in advance and be getting the PC version.

If Sony could somehow keep this game off the 360 for good, I'd buy a PS3 (sooner than I would otherwise).

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick
