Forums - Microsoft - BBCi Player now works with Xbox360

prefer streaming it on browser. It's quick anyway and I don't have to wait for download or waste hhd space. I suppose better this than nothing.

Headline is a bit misleading though. BBC iplayer isn't coming to 360, it's just that now you can download it to watch on a ms friendly program!

:D the headline doesn't say it's coming to the 360 - says it now works on the Xbox360 which it does where as it never used to...

anyway...Im actually off to give it a try - Im dying to see how the WMC plays the HD content - maybe it screws it up or downscales...I need to see it.

It always worked with media player and the DRM didn't affect the 360 due to 'Play for sure'. I've watched enough Charlie and Lola to know.

Great news, I can watch it on my PS3, but I can't donwload to it, this should bring a more stable playback

This wouldn't have been needed if the 360 had a web browser.

Still, it's good to know that more can view the BBC's content through more means.

Watching content in a browser sucks.  Would much rather watch the actual file full screen, full clarity using this new method.  I don't live across the pont though, so it doesn't affect me

Like you can with the PS3s browser?

And indeed your standard browser on a PC/Laptop.

I haven't tried it on Wii yet, I will have to check... to be honest it is probably better than on my laptop as if I put it in full screen I usually get 2-3 mini-loading screens in the middle of the viewing... and my Wii browser is usually better at things like that.

Yeah more than likely - but a lot of people had problems sharing media in Windows Media Centre across other devices.

I just wish the xbox would get a browser to be honest, playing games, checking my emails and using the net all on one machine gotta be awesome... (I have a PS3 before anyone starts LOL but hardly use it)

Another way of doing this is to use Tuner Free MCE:

Which also gives you ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5. If you live in the US it will put Hulu on your 360 for you.

Hey - cheers for that, thanks.

It's obvious Microsoft is moneyhatting the English Government to help them through their banking problems.

Seriously though. That's pretty cool. Wonder if there would be a way to screw with the regions and get it in the US.

It should work on it now as far as I am aware.... if not then just use a PC like everyone else (or Wii or PS3 browsers)

I just watched it from the Wii browser, it works well, no loading bits in the middle of the show, although the resolution isn't as good as from my laptop.

This is actually pretty handy for me!
