The OP probably assumes those games will be PS3 exclusives since both ZOEs were exclusive to the PS2.

Guidelines to understanding my train of thought:

  • THE METAL GEAR SOLID FRANCHISE IS THE BEST THING TO HIT THE PLANET SINCE THE PS3!! THUS, MGS FRANCHISE >> SLICED-BREAD.
  • Solid Snake shall and well always shove 1up mushrooms up Mario's ass. 
  • Solid Snake shall and well always decimate Master Chief with a flurry of rocket launchers, shotgun rounds, and a 20 minute monologue.

More people would actually be more inclined to purchas Snatcher II or Policenauts II because many in the West have been waiting since the mid 90's to play them while we already know that Zone of the Enders 3 would only selll about half of what MGS4 sold at the most.

      I also base it on the fact that MGS4 was a PS3 exclusive and Kojima enjoys working on Sony consoles the most.  He doesn't like to compress his games as they would have to be to play on the 360, and he admits that with all the space on blu-ray discs, he still wasn't able to fit everything he wanted in MGS4 onto blu-ray discs.  So, if he finds blu-ray to already be restrictive at 25 to 50 gig why would he want to put his games on 6.8 gig discs?

 At this moment, I think most games would love to sell half of what MGS4 sold. If ZOE can manage a feat like that, then I think Hideo should be more inclined to produce a next installment of ZOE.

      I still say Policenauts II with all new game mechanics would do far better.  There is a story there that though it includes some mechs fighting as ZOE did, that is much broader in scope in what its trying to do in human terms than just a game about mechs fighting like Speilberg's best movies are much more than about robots with AI and man-eating sharks.

     Also, since Policenauts has always been talked about as the one Japanese game tha has only ever been released in Japan that most Europeans and Americans would want to see come to their country, I feel that it has the potential to sell many times what a ZOE game would sell and even significantly more than Metal Gear games sell.

    Plus, the name Policenauts would appeal to more people as far as casual sales go.  Police Astronauts versus Zone of the Enders?  Most people could have some familiarity with what the name Policenauts would mean that rather than what Zone of the Enders means.  Kind of like Cowboy Bebop versus Gundam.

If what you say is true, why has Konami done nothing to appease it's fans? They did so with the release of MGS4 with had very, very healthly sales. I'm not trying to discredit Policenauts but, if such a demand existed, why are we even discussing the pros of releasing policenauts over a next ZOE game? Also, hasn't Kojima told some gaming article to have people email him regarding a release of ZOE? Haven't heard anything about Policenauts.
