Forums - Nintendo - Madden NFL 10 on Wii will bring 'super deformed characters' - first video

Both aren't really anything special, so if they really do take more now then they used to, that's not good, although I'd be willing to see more video of the new game before saying that's true.

But I'm not assuming about the environment, and it has taken a serious step down from previous iterations.

It finally happened. I'm a huge madden fan and a huge nintendo fan, but this is not madden. Madden is supposed to be about realism. Oh well, now I have another reason to buy a PS3 besides Blu-ray playback. Don't get me wrong as far as games go the wii is still king IMO, but madden I'll get elsewhere.

For everybody who is arguing with Mr. Nice, you're being dumb. I'm a Wii fan, and I'm a Madden fan, and, speaking for EVERY Madden fan I know, this is a dumb move. This is not how Madden should look. If EA wanted to try out this look, they should have tried it with a new game and kept Madden the same.

I don't care if you "prefer the new style" or think that "EA is at least being creative", this was obviously done to appeal to a less-serious demographic of Madden players since the traditional Madden fanbase is mostly on the PS3/360. Unfortunately for those of us who are not, however, EA is making Madden for Wii into...this.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

I would prefer better graphics, but as long as the controls are good and not stupified it could be good.

However, it's not what madden fans want. It will probably sell less than last years.

The graphics aren't that big of a deal to me, but this type of graphics suggest that the game will move away from a realistic simulation of football. That's what depresses me. I realize the majority of you don't like football, and probably like this change, but you're not the target audience of Madden. People who actually like football are. If this becomes more of an arcade Blitz-style game, you can count me out.

Unless they offer that as an extra option.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I think the reason that they've kept Tiger Woods the way it is is because the Wii version is the best selling version so they probably don't wanna screw that one up. It may also have something to do with the demographic that will buy a realistic golf simulator i.e. a middle aged man.. Most likely a realistic approach will appeal to that demographic more than something that looks like, ironically, a game.

I agree with this.   One of my favorite aspects of TW is making a near perfect avatar of myself and playing against the pros.  I'd hate it if EA went to that same style, it would take that feeling away.   On the flip side, I'd love it if they included the option to use Miis instead just for kicks (or some arcade Mii modes).

OT: Just saw the video.  Yeah, that's not Madden.   It may be a great football game but it's not Madden, and I'm not even a Madden fan.    But that series is developed as a football sim and this is not how a football sim should look.   Unless Madden Wii (PS2/PSP) isn't a sim but more arcade (personally I'll buy that) but then it should be rebranded.

I think this style was fine for Grand Slam and I prefer the look of Grand Slam to Virua (crisper, cleaner, friendly) but it's a total mistake (IMO) to bring this to an established franchise like Madden.

No, not even then.  The fact that it's offered as an option shows their lack of commitment to it.  It's not the focus of the game, and it's going to suffer as a result.

Well if ppl actually like what they did for GhostBusters, NFS, Grand Slam Tennis and now this, maybe there is no need for 3rd parties to make a realistic style games on the wii.

Why stop there? If this how we can get games on the wii then all games on the wii should do this like RE, SH, DS, GTA, MGS, CoD, DR etc. As long the style is good it shouldn't be a problem.

The list of Wii announcements that people have knee-jerk negative reactions too despite there being no reason to lately.

1. The sequel to Umbrella Chronicles is a railshooter!? It must be a 4 minute long game made by 2 people for 10 bucks!
2. Dead Space Rail Shooter!? How dare they not give us the same game that came out last year with downgraded graphics!
3. Excite BOTS!? what the hell is a bot!? Nintendo must be refusing to make games worth playing!
4. Madden 10 for Wii will have some style!? Clearly EA decided to break with their tradition of using the PS2 games engine and design a brand new engine for the Wii game just because designing new engines are cheaper! EA hates Nintendo!

EA is actually focusing on the Wii version to make it the best experience tThe fact that they've finally decided to add style instead of realistic graphics hey can. that don't hold up to their HD counterparts is a good thing. I just can't believe they haven't done it for Tiger Woods yet.

I agree, but that style is somewhere in limbo between two places (cartoon and realism). If they commit to it 100% it be good, otherwise it be just a weird creapy looking game.

Well that is my problem with it. It needs work basically.
