Final Fantasy as a franchise has moved 85 million units worldwide since its creation in 1987, according to Square Enix. The company has also decided to reveal lifetime figures for Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts, which have accumulated 47 million and 12 million unit sales each, respectively. This news serves to help bolster positive opinion of the company (ie it is doing well) and comes just after they revealed their plans to take over ailing publisher Eidos, home to the Tomb Raider franchise among others. Square Enix has also published overall sales figures for: of Tomb Raider (30+ million globally), Hitman (8+ million copies) and Kane & Lynch (just under 2 million units).

Around the Network

Not bad numbers for the games but what matters is what they do from now on...

I mean their most recent games have apparently been rather uninspiring as of late and with FFXIII looking more and more westernised to try and 'bring in more western crowd' which i think might turn a lot of avid FF fans off the game series tbh (i know my interest is dwindling) it is more important than ever for the company to realise what made them great in the RPG world, and that was great and interesting JRPG's...

Here's hoping that FFXIV will be more traditional (so to speak)

I'm so glad EA didn't get their filthy paws on Eidos. I need Thief 4 NOOOOW!
