Well here's a history lesson, it covered 1/4 of the worlds land, had 1/4 of the world population and the mojority of the worlds resources. It was pretty big. |
And how is that working out for you guys right now?

There were bad points, ofcourse. No-one is denying that, but there were more good points than bad. If you want me to list, please ask.

Right now? I thought this thread was about history?

Empires come and go, as do Superpowers. Just look at the U.S, it is on its way out. The Eurozone is now the largest economy in the world and in a few decades, China, India and the EU will overtake it in military terms. Don't get complacent with what you have; that would be a huge mistake.
Anyway, this is about history, so why are you talking about the current state of the Empire now?

Well our country may not be old, but I would like to say we have had more significant inventions than any other country.
Except Egypt, they invented Beer, that trumps eerything we have ever done

The USA is still the largest economy in the world, The only reason why the European Union is considered that is because its the majority of the European countries combined. USA is only one country. And the USA spends more on military then every other country in the world combined.

Industrialisation: The single greatest achievement of the British Empire. Without the industiral revolution and Britain, you would not have any of the luxuries you currently enjoy. In fact, the world would be decades behind what it currently is at.
Democracy: The Empire brought democracy to a large number of former colonies. During the decolonisation, it was overseen that the countries had free elections that were in the people's interest. However, that did not last long, as the governments soon turned corupt. Zimbabwae would be in much, much better shape today if it were still under colonial rule, as would many of the former colonies in Africa.
English Language: The English language has made communication across various countries easier and has increased ease of trade greatly.
British Legal System: Numerous countries today base their legal systems on the British and it is the envy of much of the world.
British School System: As above, many countries base their system on the British one.
Can do more, but I'm going to go revise now. Do a search online if you want more.

No, it is not. The U.S has the largest single country economy in the world, but an economy is not limited to one country.
Actually that's not true, the U.S spends a little below half the world's total defence budget. Just because you are powerful now does not mean it will be the same story in 50 years.
