A Bit About Combat In Magna Carta 2

By Spencer . April 20, 2009 . 8:26am

Softmax wisely scrapped the Trinity Rings from Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. Famitsu reports the combat system in Magna Carta 2 is new and makes use of the environment through field attributes.

After a real-time field to combat switch players control a leader character while the computer takes care of the other party members. Leaders can be changed at anytime and there is a benefit to a swap. Team attacks from the chain system can be used after a leader change. Linked attacks between hero Juto and heroine Zephie may not grab your attention, but Magna Carta 2 has some cool looking encounters like this fight against a monstrous worm.

Still not quite sure what to expect. I really wish they would compare it to some other JRPG for reference :/

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Nice to know that Magna Carta is taking the FF route when it comes to differences to sequel and original game

What they are pretty much saying is that combat is seamless, you can chain attacks with your party members, that the environment will play a major role in battle through field attributes and that you can switch who you want to control anytime you want. Also that the combat system is completely different then the horrible combat system Magna Carta 1 had.

Also unlike the first Magna Carta your party members will be A.I. controlled (thank god).

Kind of reminds me of this horrible game.

G-Value, does Soriku know your taking his job as Ace JRPG Reporter?  Anyway thanks for the info. The battle system will most likely be the deciding factor for me on this game. If its good, I'll buy it. If not, I'll pass.

Lol. Nah i'm just really excited about Magna Carta 2. Magna Carta 1 had a horrible combat system but the storyline was amazing with some of the best plot twists i have seen in a JRPG on the PS2. Knowing that the combat system is completely different gives me hope that Magna Carta 2 (with the same person who wrote Magna Carta 1's story) could be the JRPG we all been waiting for (other then Tales of Vesperia and Valkyria Chronicles). Also i'm loving the graphics and art style for Magna Carta 2 as well as the music.

awesome, all of a sudden we start to here alot about this game, this is basically the only game that i am looking forward to this year.

hey can you add a link? please
