Never take the RNG for granted. I've been screwed over too many times with the GBA games to take anything for granted.

And you've been blessed equally many times. You just don't notice that.
When you have a crap character, you think that (s)he sucks. You check to see that no - (s)he's not that horrible. RNG burn!
When you have an awesome character, you think that (s)he is awesome. If somebody else says they're crap they're either wrong, or they were RNG burned.
I'm a fan of RNG.

I agree, I'm a fan of the RNG as well. I was just commenting on irstupid's comment about just using one character because he could be better, (the truth is Rolf is vastly superior guaranteed, but Shinon is just easier to get to a higher level). The RNG makes every play through a little different, and keeps the player guessing.
In RD, Maciah was dreadful my first playthrough, she couldn't dodge anything, OHKO anything and was autimatically OHKO right to the end of the game. On my second playthrough, she is practically a tank after the first story. Totally different playthroughs, almost like two different games.
