Forums - Nintendo - RUMOR - Next Fire Emblem title to be discussed in upcoming Nintendo Dream?

basically when a unit gets promoted you can get to choose which class promotion you like!
(e.g. a Myrmidon can choose between a swordmaster or an assassin, or a Pegasus knight can choose between a Falcoknight or a Wyvern Knight)

It would be awesome if it returned

what was the branching promotion in fire emblem 8 like?

I have only played Path Of Radiance, Radiant Dawn and Shadow Dragon

ALtho I have played 2 of those to death haha

Here's the promotion tree (having it in a link as it is too big, and if I de-size it, it will become unreadable.

A troubadour can become either a Mage Knight or a Valkyrie.

Fighter can become Warrior or Hero

Etc.

(Read the chart)

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

The only flaw with FE8's branching promotion system was that there were some classes that were almost completely superior to the other choice. Overall though, I think branching would be great especially if combined with a 3 tier system like Radiant Dawn's.

 That would be completely awesome.

And what choices were obvious? I almost always hesitated a bit before choosing.

Druid over Summoner.

Sage over anything.

Assassin over Rogue (if you can take care of doors/chests).

Great Knight over Paladin.

I'd have to look at the numbers again but those were the obvious ones IIRC.

Oh... I made a Bishop instead of a Sage (bonus against Undead is nice).

I made Rogue rather than assassin. Made my Marcia into an assassin, and just had the Rogue for pickpocketing.

Didn't actually use any Dark Magic, so don't know about Druid/Summoner.

And I made 2 Pallies and 1 Great Knight.

So essentially, I picked fairly different than what you find obvious.

I picked mine based on raw combat power.  For example:

Great Knight

HP STR SKL SPD LCK DEF RES
/60
/28
/24
/24
/30
/29
/25

Paladin

HP STR SKL SPD LCK DEF RES
/60
/25
/26
/24
/30
/25
/25

Great Knight : +3 STR, +4 DEF, Axe Proficiency
Paladin : +2 SKL, +2 MOV

Yeah, I know. I didn't bother to check it, as I knew you were correct.

Point is, without checking, I didn't know that. It's not that obvious.

And one thing. Aren't those the caps? Most units won't cap their stats (most will only cap 1 or 2). The + 2 movement is guaranteed, the other stats aren't. (Unless they're part of the promotion gains).

A higher cap > a lower cap.

For example, in FE6 right now... I'm currently wishing for higher caps on Roy's stats.  He's 17 or so now and he's... pretty godly.
