Forums - Nintendo - I just rewatched Nintendo 2008 E3 conference

I’m hopeful this year will be better, providing they don’t make me cringe they’ve succeeded.

Everyone is entitled to one bad E3. But just one. Nintendo will bring the goods this year.

Don't bet on it.  I can imagine this conference being even worse than last year's E3, and any new software will just bomb automatically.  It'll be the absolute WORST year EVER for Wii all over the world.  The Wii is dead.  There is NO hope for the Japanese market.  MH games are all going to bomb.

NOTE:  I'm being extremely sarcastic here; I believe that the exact opposite will be true.  It's just that I feel that going in with such super high expectations will only make matters even worse.  That's why I'm gonna be as cool as possible.  Note, too, that I was mocking a certain someone who trolled about how Wii was going to be the loser this year from an angry fan who hated last year's E3 so badly.

how can they do worse than that e3

I said that I was being sarcastic, mocking the annoying doomsayers.  I do have reasonable expectations for this one, though.

Yeah, Nintendo had a horrible conference in 2008.

And, admittedly 2006 was pretty awesome with the huge line to play the Wii and Zelda: Twilight Princess.

In 2008, they chose to abandon the core gamers especially after their big heads up a couple of week's beforehand that they would be showing games geared more towards the core gamer. I think that between that announcement and E3 something unexpected happened, so they had to change their presentation.

I hope they learned that they need both traditional gamers and blue ocean gamers from the fallout from that.

I really thought that conference was Ok, they showed a lot of games Shaun White, Cod , AC and Wii Music.

Announced Wii motion + and new wii sports. Its just that peoples expectations prior to E3 were ridicilously high. Its not that MS or Sony had better conferences.

I'm pretty sure both Microsoft and Sony had better conferences.

Microsoft showed Gears of War 2 (even if you're not a big Gears fan like I am not, you still have to admit that that "I have a rendezvous with Death." trailer and poem were both awesome!), Resident Evil 5, Fallout 3, and had the announcement of the entire show in Final Fantasy XIII coming to the 360.

Sony had Resistance 2, Little Big Planet, Killzone 2, MAG, Resistance Retribution, God of War III first trailer, and Infamous.

Wii had Animal Crossing, Wii Sports Resort, and Wii Music.
