The game should be the same on all consoles, as much as possible.

Wii owners will still buy it and it will still outsell the other two versions.

Ubisoft saved themselves time and effort.

But that would suggest Wii owners SHOULDN'T buy watered down ports...  and then, in so doing, they would prove that there's no viable market for third parties...

As far as third party games go, Nintendo has reached a no win situation, where either of the possible outcomes (ie third party games sell well/don't sell well) can be interpreted in such a way as to avoid having to put in any real effort into Wii games.

Super World Cup Fighter II: Championship 2010 Edition

I think a business should always put maximum effort into what gives them the most profit.

AMEN brother. This is a concern of of mine as well. Its a catch-22. Either we buy the crap they are selling us in the hopes of them doing it right next time (Rockband) or we tell them to take a hike and suddenly "nobody buys 3rd party SW".

What's this about, exactly?  It sounds like Suzuki Swift owners wanting to put premium gas in their cars instead of regular.  Or is that Suzuki Swift owners want only regular gas to be available to all cars?  Is one of those analogies correctly describing the situation?

Uhh... did you bother to read the OP? Like he said RockBand and Guitar Hero already support similar features. So obviously its not like the Wii is uncapable of downloading songs or playing online. This is Konami being lazy, not some impossible HW hurdle.

Things readily available in other games are not comparable to "premium gas". I can download new tracks for Guitar Hero & RB, but not Karaoke ones? How can you compare simple Karaoke tracks to "premium fuel" if tracks (hell even full albums) for other music games are available weekly. I can play Rock Band, MK, COD, GH, even a lot of WiiWare games online, but not any Konami games? The Wii is obviously capable of downloading songs and playing online.

Konami is not selling premium gas, or even regular, they are selling watered down junk.

BTW, troll often? What's that about, exactly?

Ah, ok.  Thx.
