Forums - Microsoft - Would you prefer your Xbox360 to have Blu-ray?

I did wish the Xbox360 came with the HD-DVD player built in so that at that time in the gaming world - we didn't or wouldnt have had to pay extra to see HD-DVD Movies and developers had more disc space for extra content.

I believe if the Xbox360 had of had the HD-DVD player built in then HD Movies wouldn't have died off on that format. There are now 30 million Xbox360's in the world! so things could have been very different... since Blu Ray won the format war for HD, then when Microsoft scrapped the HD-DVD add on player then YES I wish a Blu Ray player came out because saves me having to rig the PS3 up to watch a movie.

Around the Network

Blu Ray's only selling point is getting a decent storage backup size on a blank disc. For games & movies it's a complete waste of time and space. I havent burnt a disc for months now as I'm sure a hell of a lot of people here havent too. Hard Disc media Ughh

"...the best way to prepare [to be a programmer] is to write programs, and to study great programs that other people have written. In my case, I went to the garbage cans at the Computer Science Center and fished out listings of their operating system." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

"Hey, Steve, just because you broke into Xerox's house before I did and took the TV doesn't mean I can't go in later and take the stereo." - Bill Gates (Microsoft Corporation)

Bill Gates had Mac prototypes to work from, and he was known to be obsessed with trying to make Windows as good as SAND (Steve's Amazing New Device), as a Microsoft exec named it. It was the Mac that Microsoft took for its blueprint on how to make a GUI.

""Windows [n.] - A thirty-two bit extension and GUI shell to a sixteen bit patch to an eight bit operating system originally coded for a four bit microprocessor and sold by a two-bit company that can't stand one bit of competition.""

If it was the same price, hell yeah. I'll take anything for free.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Just like I don't care that my Wii can't play DVD's, I don't care that my 360 can't play Blu-Ray's (or that it plays DVD's). I use my DVD player to play DVD's since it's nice and quiet compared to the 360, and the Wii for that matter.

I do agree that having the XBOX use HD-DVD's as standard would have prolonged, and quite possible changed, the outcome of the high-def medium "war". This probably would have required all launch versions to have an HDMI port, though which of course also didn't happen. This would have also effected price, but not to the effect of adding a blu-ray player.

Nope I don't care about BR...

and i'd add, if 360 and PS3 were the same price, I would have gone PS3. (though I got my 360 for the equivalent of €60 so....)
