Forums - Microsoft - Would you prefer your Xbox360 to have Blu-ray?

If it was free then yes, if not then no.

the wife screamed at me for buying it at the launch price of $400 so no way would I have wanted it.

Honestly I dont care a bit about Blu-Ray. Today as soon as I get a DVD I rip it anyway so we can stream the thing anywhere in the house. When I can easily do that with Blu-Ray I will pick up a Blu-Ray drive for the PC to rip them.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

No. Read time is slower and I just don't give a damn about it. I watch my stuff on Fox on Demand, South Park Studios, and other streaming content sites.

Yes it is.

Blu Ray is a dvd player with more storage. That isn't needed over normal DVD. I'm sorry, you need to understand the difference between having a product and overdoing a product and forcing it into the market.

Nope.

It would have made it too expensive for me to buy, I watch my movies from others sources than disc and I bought the X360 to play games, not to watch films.

Honestly, somewhere in the back of your head, would you prefer/wished if your Xbox360 had Blu-ray since the beginning?  Just the feeling to know your system is with the latest format and gives a complete HD experience.  Or are you completely content with your Xbox360 (whichever model) straight out of the box?

I have a few friends that own a Xbox360, sure they love the XBL experience and the library of games, but they also wished it also had Blu-ray .  Just curious if alot (or little) of you Xbox360 owners feel the same way? Thoughts?

I've never used my game consoles as DVD/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray players as I've always preferred dedicated players.  That being the case, my 360 DOES give me a complete HD gaming experience...exactly what I bought it for - hooray!

My answer is the same as TRios_Zen here.

The OP's question has a flaw in it. How could anyone have wanted Blu-Ray from the beginning when no one actually knew if HD DVD was going to defeat it? The choice to make the HD DVD drive as an add-on for the 360 pretty much pushes the idea that most people in this thread have been talking about: Keeping the system at a low cost.

I personally have a PS3 as well as a 360, so it would have been beyond pointless to spend my money on both consoles were they both expensive due tto having the format built in. So, in this way, you can see that my choice to get a 360 was actually positively effected by its lack of Blu Ray. At the same time, I think that a Blu Ray add-on would be of great value to the 360 because it would give those who only have the 360 the option of choosing to use it.

It would be a big thing for the 360 to have built in blu-ray.

No. I would never pay $30 for a movie, and prefer streaming movies from netflix anyways.

Stop getting so excited about a Kid Icarus remake... the original NES Icarus sucked.
