Forums - Microsoft - 360 DVD data limit is 6.8 GB

That still doesn't disprove his claim that the 360 drive actually reads at 12x for DL though MikeB.

He's misguiding you anyway.

His first statement doesn't actually make sense.

His 2nd statement is pure lies.

http://www.abgx.net

The amount of game data is irrelevent, ALL 360 games are on double layer disc.

They are either 7.05GB total (game data partition + video partition dummy padding (pushes game data to outer edge to be able to be read quicker).

Those were the 1st "wave" of Xbox 360 games.

The 2nd "wave" were the same size.

The 3rd "wave" now have the NXE already on the disc, they place this in the video partition, but it has the effect of making the total amount of data increase by a few mb.

Contrary to popular belief, the remaining 900mb or so of space that isn't used is not DRM measures, that is contained in the dummy data\random padding partition and also the SS (security sector) PFI\DMI which are 2kb in size (yes 2 KILOBYTES) each are on the outer edge near the 7.05GB mark.

The reason for some illegal rips being 7.29GB is due to the video partition being placed twice at the end of each layer and not how originals are stored.

MikeB you really really shouldn't be allowed to speak given the nonsense your giving people who don't know any better.

MikeB you are a disgrace, and I challenge you to disprove anything I have said. I will spew forth vile tornados of truth and righteousness if you even try.

Who cares? We're in the consoles 4th year, multi-disc games rank at a mere half-a dozen (all exclusive so far) and the 360 still performs better for cross platform games by ever increasing margins.

I'd say the disc space relevance for games has been settled, stick to retail movies.

Um I don't know where you are getting multiplatform statistics from but I think it is ever decreasing, and even better looking if they have switched to, or are a ps3 lead developer.

@mikeb

you sound like sony... next gen starts when we say so

to say this gen started with killzone 2 is highly arrogant, stupid and insulting to many many great games.

stop being such a fanboy.

Woah, I think you need to take a chill pill. There's no need to attack Mike B over this. He did say "IMO" and you can't ridicule him for his opinion like that. Furthermore his use of winks kind of indicated to me at least that he was being capricious. I think that insulting him and calling him a fanboy lowers your credibility also.

Nah, MikeB does that to pretend like he's joking.  He really does mean and believe what he says.  Kowenicki is right about him.

even if that is the case, it is still his opinion and he can't insult people like that

All he did was call him a fanboy.  I think many people can vouch for MikeB's fanboyic behavior.

And call him stupid and arrogant. I mean come on they are pretty personal remarks!

It's not, that's why many stuck to exactly 3.4 GBs of data. The copy protection, etc part is probably dual layered data, but the evidence is IMO pretty apparent that various early games used up only 1 layer of data.

I won't call you names like you do, I think I'm too level-headed for that, we are discussing consoles and technology here. But you're on my ignore list from now on.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

He wasn't directly calling MikeB those.  Just implying the actions were stupid and arrogant and an insult to many great games.

MikeB's words were rather thoughtless and crude when he said those.

I don't really want an argument, I'm just saying i didn't like the way MikeB was talked to (typed?!) Even though he was joking and it wasn't a very good joke kowneicki did kind of blow his top I think.
