Forums - Gaming Discussion - Virtual Console issues?

It is a issue. But the thing is, I've never seen this mentioned before. I've never seen anyone talking about this problem? No-one reads the EULA enough to get that. And in 1-2 years when their Wii blows up, they buy a 2nd wii... and cant get their games on it. Their gonna be MAD. What do they do? How do they fix that problem? The way the Wii is made everything is linked directly to the Wii. It is a genius system for Nintendo. Instead of buying a 2nd machine from nintendo which costs them money to make, they just send you a refurb, that cost them almost nothing... yet they charged you 150$. Which is CHEAP for you compared to re-buying 500$ of VC games. Will you be pissed at Nintendo? Yes. Did you just pay 150$ for a refurbished machine, when you could buy a new one for 200$? Yes.

I don't really understand what your getting at. Do you mean you can't download stuff to a flash drive from downloadable content. If that's what you mean I thought there were already ideas on how to fix that. I also think the reason this has never been mentioned before is because no one has had this problem and no one seems to have a problem with it. Until this really happens you can only guess what will really happen.

Well the Games can only be downloaded to the internal Flash drive. When you download them, I think it tells you that the download is linked to your Wii, and NOT you. (or when you buy money) There might be ways to fix that, but their illegal. And if you wanna play these games Illegally. The PSP would be your best choice.

Remember what happened with the first batch of 360's. Yeah. They wouldnt service them for free, so everyone bought a 2nd one. And then 3 months before the PS3 launch, Microsoft changed their service agreement, and everyone shipped off the brokeass 360's. (I know 2 people that did that) EDIT: Yeah, they now have 2 360's. Also, you really lucked out on getting your DS replaced. Once again if it breaks for unexpected reasons, you don't have to pay for it. While it is under warranty. Once the warranty is over. They don't have to do anything. ;)
Yes, but those who sent in their 360's to get fixed had to pay. Later on they did change that agreement and everyone who had sent them in got refunds. They realized they were being asses and stealing money because it was their own fault for having faulty systems. After that is was a-okay. If it becomes this obvious there is no way business would work out well. If Wii really does start to have this problem then there will be a change.

And I'm not talking about every wii dying in a year. I'm not gonna say that. Their built better than that. But my point is. If your the unlucky bastard to have a wii die on you in 6 months... you are SCREWED. :)

Illegal as in 3rd party? I know when I got my gc memory card I didn't get a Nintendo brand one because they didn't have ones with a lot space at the time. I noticed some glitches somethimes with the card, nothing major. I looked it up online and Nintendo had a statement about only using nintendo brand memory cards. I don't know if this is illegal but it sure helped a lot. I still have the same memory card with 15+ games info on it. The card originally came with 1200+ blocks of memory for less than $30s, sweet.

Well we'll see what happens in 6 months then. Ha, I got Kwaad to compliment Wii. Edit: I find this extremely interesting. Kwaad you and me are the only ones who have commented on this thread so far, and it's pretty long!!! I guess it's cause there aren't a lot of other members online right now.

Let me explain to you the Wii's system. You can save games, pictures, sound, movies... on your memory stick. You can put I think something like 8gb SD memory cards in it. But that dont mean anything for this. The downloadable content only works on the internal Flash drive. (conveniently it is soldered to the board) (and yes that is spelled right) That is what you would need to upgrade. But then you would need to take the memory out of your memory card, and give it the proper pinout for the board. Basically impossible. And then you fry the OS on the Wii, and loose your Wii code... so that would fry your Wii.

No prob, I wasn't big on VC games anyway. Still time to wait.

I agree this is a problem on some level: I'd like and should be able to keep my VC games if I get a new Wii or a Wii2 or whatever, and I suspect Nintendo will provide for this down the line... but at this point I don't really care.
