As you can see you pretty much started the internet equivalent of "whose dick is bigger" or "my daddy can beat yours". As for the question, your ping is pretty high, it may have to do with which server you tested your connection with, I would try other and see if the latency get better. For optimum gameplay, between under 60 is generaly recommended and I wouldn't play with one over 100 myself, 300 is pretty much the upper limit for a halfway playable game.

Download and upload speed are pretty irrelevant for online play, short of you being on a 56k.

So what is the ping rate exactly... as mine it seems is one of the beter ones here (17ms) even though I otherwise have an average connection, and slower than most on here. (2Mb download, 0.3Mb upload)

Also while I am here, what the hell is a packet? When I click on the Wireless Connection Network icon by the clock it tells me how many packets I have sent/recieved, obviously that is information but what exactly constitutes 1 package?

ping rate is the time it takes for a packet to make a round trip between your computer and the server. If you open up a command window you can check your ping by typing 'ping www.google.com' or another url that supports ping and checking the round trip time.

As for a packet, it is just a group of data. there is a maximum amount of data each packet supports. Ethernet caps out at 64k, but the real limit is always smaller than that. Imagine you have to ship a 500 page paper from your house to your professor in another country (ok, really weird but whatever). You can't send all 500 pages in 1 envelope, but you are forced to use envelopes. You break the data (or pages) into packets (or evenelopes) and send a small chunk (3-4 pages) at a time.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

What I've learned from this thread is that AT&T sucks eggs as internet. No one should get it.

OT: Yes. Mine's worse and works for me, minus Brawl.
