Why? I know Nintendo made it, I don't need them shoving it up into my face every time I turn on my Wii.

It's a waste of time having it there. Plus, almost all games do, don't they? (So essentially, it's no different than before hard-drives)

A nintendo logo? Wii was designed to be marketed as its own product, Nintendo didn't want it associated with Nintendo. Hence why it's named "Wii" rather than "Nintendo Wii"

PC + Wii owners unite. Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen. Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy. Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)

anything that delays me having fast and easy access to games is bad. As a reult I am thrilled that there is no Wii intro. Go to youtube and watch a small video while turning on your Wii if you want one.
