Khuutra, what do think about MM´s and Onyx´s predictions for Sony and MS?

They aren't bad at all, though I think Onyx is probably more on the ball than MM.

I like yours best...

Onyxmeth failed when he didn't put that Microsoft was going to announce the next gen Xbox 360 for 2009 and Makingmusic failed when predicted that Sony would announce games. We all know about every game which Sony could possibly make already.

Nice!

Sorry Khuutra but your predictions were conservative and bare even for Nintendo after E3 08.

I definitely think they will announce Pikmin 3 and Kirby for Fall/Winter. Retro and NST have been too quiet. Both studios make a lot of western oriented software which is perfect for E3. Both are supposed to be working on 2 IPs, I'd expect one from each to be revealed, probably for release in the first half of next year. There should also be a Factor 5 announcement...it won't necessarily be Kid Icarus.

I've been saying the same damn thing since, uh.... every press event since E3 2007.

If I'm wrong in my conservatism, then it will be happily.

^One does ones best. TBH this thread needs more posts...

Makingmusic is a little insane over the idea that the PS3 will get a $100 pricecut IMO, so... How about a bet? You have to get an Xbox 360 if you're right and you have to get an Xbox 360 if you're wrong? JK Maybe to make it balanced I should have to get a PSP and 2-3 PS3 games of his choosing if im wrong.

When I was talking with your girlfriend/boyfriend/dog on MSN last night. (Damn the generic non gender/species specific username 'Doginheat205') s/he/it said that the one thing closest to your heart was Nintendo.

Can't you give a prediction which is a little more revealing and a little less considervative?

Tease.

Keep in mind that I only mentioned a price cut because he asked me my thoughts on a possible price cut in the PM he sent me:

Hey makingmusic, how´re you doing?

Hey man, I think you´re one of the most unbiased and reasonable vgchartz users, plus you seem to have a good grasp at the industry, trends and analysis.

So, because of that, I ask you...or better, dust off your crystal ball :p, about E3 that´s less than 2 months away.

Do you think this year´s E3 will really be truly great for Sony and PS3?..we know about big hits coming in Uncharted 2, R&C, Heavy Rain, GOW3, MAG, etc...but do you also see any big surprises from Sony for the PS3?

And what does your 'sixth sense' say about a PS3 price cut?...do you think if there´s to be one, that E3 would be the perfect place to announce one?

Cheers, bro.

I just outlined three possibilities of how it might go down. Personally, I think if it's gonna happen this year, it's gonna happen in time for the holidays. E3 feels too early, given Sony's current financial situation.

Really, the price cut was not a part of my E3 predictions. I do believe (well, basically know for a fact lol) that a new SKU will be announced, however.  The silver ps3.

^ You just don't want to take the bet... CHICKEN!!!

Tease.

And what would the bet entail? That a price cut or may not be announced? lol

I'll gladly take a bet on the following:

On the PSP side of things, I think we'll see:

1. LBP PSP finally shown off, and probably playable. It's being worked on by Sony Cambridge with assistance from Media Molecule, and it should turn out quite well.

2. A few new PSP games announced. They said earlier in the year that the games they had recently announced (LBP PSP, RB PSP, AC PSP, MS PSP, etc.) were less than 50% of things they have lined up for the PSP for the year. Of course, they hadn't announced the new Jak & Daxter at the time, but I think they'll have a few more tricks up their sleeve for E3.

3. PSP-4000/PSP2 will be unveiled. I'm not sure what it'll be, and what it'll include, but it'll be there. It may be an upgrade similar to that of the DSi over the DSL, or it may be a full generational leap akin to the DS over the GBA, but it'll be the biggest hardware change we've yet seen for the PSP.

4. Now this one I'm not so sure about, but I have a feeling it'll happen. Gran Turismo 4 Mobile will return, re-dubbed GT5 Mobile. It'll either be announced as a standard PSP title, or, if they are truly releasing a PSP2, a PSP2 launch title.

Now onto ps3:

1. Trico! Yes, the game we've all been waiting for! It'll finally be unveiled! ...I think. It's been a long time coming, and they have to show it at some point, and this seems like the perfect place. My only doubts stem from the fact that SCEI tends to focus more on TGS than E3, so they may wait to unveil it there. However, E3 is slowly returning to its former glory, and it really is the place to be making any big announcements these days. Plus, I feel that TGS might just be too far away, unless they don't plan to release the game until late 2010 or possibly 2011. I highly doubt that's the case (or rather, I fear it to be the case =( ).

2. We'll see some other new ps3 games, though I'm not sure what. I think it's too soon to show off Starhawk, and David Jaffe confirmed on neogaf that his people won't be showing anything at E3, so that rules out Twisted Metal, but there are a few developers that have been awfully quiet as of late. Sony Liverpool, for example, has released nothing but Wipeout HD for PSN over the past 2.5 years. It's been long rumored that they've been working on a third person action title for a while, and we might see that, or something else from the team. And there are various other teams we may get some info out of. And who knows, we may actually get a teaser for Starhawk.

3. Gran Turismo 5 will finally return to the limelight, and we'll get a release time frame. God of War III will also be there, playable, and we'll also get a release time frame. Same goes for a few of their 2009 titles, like MAG and Heavy Rain.

4. White Knight Chronicles announced for the West, with a rough release date. Hopefully Demon's Souls will be announced for the West too, but I'm finding that more and more unlikely. Though I already imported it, so it doesn't effect me much. We may also see Sony get up on stage with SE and announce that the FFXIII demo will be on the Western release of FFVII: ACC, and thus the demo will be "exclusively on the ps3" haha. Then I'll feel like an ass for having spent way too much on importing the Japanese version, assuming we wouldn't get the demo for awhile. =x

5. A new ps3 SKU or two. Silver ps3 controllers are now up for pre-order at GameStop, set to release on June 24th, and it's quite apparent that the Silver ps3 will finally be making its way out of Japan, and we should see an announcement at E3.

Oohh...I'll take that bet. Your predictions up against mine. Whoever is closest wins.

....Fiiiiiiine.... but this one's not going on the record.

FFXIII announced as fully multiplat, sans handhelds (so 360, PS3, Wii, PC). The internet will break for about forty-five seconds following this announcement.

We'll see an original Retro Studios project.

Also some representative will spend a little time talking about money, possibly rubbing a fan made of hundred dollar bills over their faces.

Sounds good Onyx.

Now let me analyze your predictions:

1. MS will showcase new features to be added to the NXE this upcoming Fall. It may involve Netflix.

2. This July-August's Summer of Arcade (XBLA) lineup will be unveiled. I predict Perfect Dark to be one of the titles unveiled. I expect at least one title revealed to feature the Avatars heavily in the game.

3. The new Zune HD will make an appearance featuring some sort of a connection feature to either the console(like streaming HD content straight from the Zune to the 360) or at least a software title(like Lips 2 maybe).

4. Forza Motorsport 3 will be unveiled and will be set for Fall/Christmas 2009.

5. A brand new IP from Lionhead will be unveiled in CGI format. It will have no timeline attached.

6. Rare will announce Killer Instinct 3. It will be set for 2010.

7. There will be a showcase of Japanese titles shown in one block after mentioning strong Japanese sales. It will feature Magna Carta 2, Ninety-Nine Nights 2, possibly a SHMUP XBLA title or two coming over from Japan, and the unveiling of Blue Dragon 2 to end it with.

8. Wingnut Interactive's Halo game will be unveiled.

9. Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 3 will be showcased for the Fall and will either have timed exclusivity or exclusive DLC featured as a selling point.

10. Bungie will showcase ODST and then follow that up with a trailer of their new original IP coming out in 2010.

11. Microsoft is going to end the night similiar to last year on purpose. I can't figure out what game it is they're going to showcase, but I'm fairly sure it's going to be a high profile third party title, and I'm pretty sure it's going exclusive. I want to say Modern Warfare 2 just for the craziness and hilarity of it all. Ultimately though, I think it'll be something unannounced like a Final Fantasy MMO, an exclusive Rock Band or Guitar Hero title, or a Grand Theft Auto title."

1. That's a given.

2. Another given.

3. Interesting. I honestly have no idea whether it'll happen. I don't know much about the Zune.

4. An announcement is a given. Honestly, I thought they would've shown it by now. I used to think that that release date was a given, but I can't help but have my doubts now, given how long they've waited to show the game.

5. Quite likely.

6. Will it finally happen? I mean, they've been teasing a new KI for like ten years now. Would be killer if it did.

7. Wouldn't be surprised.

8. They have to show it eventually.

9. I could see exclusive DLC.

10. I think they'll wait a bit longer, but it'd be cool to see what they're working on.

11. MGS4: Superior Version. It'll be multiplat, and it'll be their surprise. Count on it.
