A de facto solid science like Sociology in itself does not 'disagree'. It uses applied systematic methods of empirical investigation. We measure our own findings, thoughts and values to the already massive amount of data registered in the discipline by using methodology in order to dismiss any biases or personal interests. Sociology is one of many essential 'tools' that we can use in order to further our understanding of human nature. The various fields in Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology aims at continous research without a 'finite goal'.

I think the counter-argument is that people get offended about minor things that don't really matter and inconvenience everyone else because they're being so difficult about it.

@NoJustNo: She does not want to ban gay marriage.  She disapproves of it personally, but thinks others should have the right to choose.  Try to use a little reading comprehension, please.  It is possible to disapprove of something but not think everyone should not be allowed to do/use it at the same time.

You're brain washed to think that there's such a thing as 'traditional marriage'. Traditional marriage was between one man and many women. Marriage has been evolving over time. I'm not the brain washed one here. There's no reason gays shouldn't be allowed to get married, except for stupid old texts written by men of primitive societies, and people's own irrelivant opinions about it being gross or wrong.

If someone thinks gay marriage is wrong and does not support it, they're a bigot by definition: 'a person who is utterly intolerant of any differing creed, belief, or opinion.'

What they're a bigot against, gay marriage, is an injustice. I'm a bigot myself, against illogical people. There's no rational basis for why gays shouldn't be allowed to get married, except ignorant opinions based on cultural or religious values.

Again, she is not opposed to gay marriage being allowed.  She disapproves of it, but celebrates the fact that people can choose whether or not they want to.  That means, "I don't approve of it, but I think everyone should be able to decide for themselves.  If they want to, they should feel free."

For once, I actually agree with you. While I am straight, and disagree with the whole thing, I won't pretend like I can decide whether or not gays can marry. If they want to, that's fine with me. There's really no reason, outside of my religion, as to why they can't and my religion isn't everyone's religion. All I ask is that they don't try and force to be a part of my religion (which they have tried to do locally).
