Forums - Sony - Going to game outlet *CHEAP PS1 GAMES* i can buy

Euphoria14 said:

Updated my other post after Twesterm mentioned the fact that many PS1 games did not age well. These 3 games play very well on PS3 with upscaling, especially Vagrant Story.

Remember, I said the early 3D ones so of course Saga Frontier is still going to look and sound amazing.

And any other 3D game that isn't full of sprites and the painted backgrounds is just going to be very hit or miss.  Some still look fine, most are boxes with very low textures.  This isn't a criticism, it's just what the PS1 could handle.

Umm all ps1 games should be 5 bucks honestly
its been ages since the system was out

They all should be, but they're not.  The games aren't made anymore so they're just rare (or at least the good ones are).

The popular must have good ones are going to cost you more than $5 and in same cases more than $50 (and in a few cases more than $100) because people get them and wisely hold onto them.

There are gems like Saga Frontier that are good but it isn't really widely know so you are likely able to get those in the $5-10 range, *if* you can find them.

Then there are the average games like Metal Gear Solid that aren't bad but just kind of there and they shouldn't be much higher than $5 if you can find them.  There's just no guarantee you will find the game, it all depends on what they happen to have.

It's all really just a crap shoot on what you find.  Just know, ones like Suikoden II, Final Fantasy VII, Xenogears, and those other legendary games aren't going to be $5.

I wouldn't say going there and searching for the games is a waste of time because you can find the occasional deal, but if you're looking for specific PS1 games places like eBay are your best bet.

@Bolded #1

Which is precisely why I mention both of them every single time. Nowadays most older PS1 title look like garbage which allows these titles to stand out much more than they did back then.

@Paragraph #2

I completely agree with you there, some games just do not look good at all anymore, FFVII being one of the biggest victims. This is why I recommend Vagrant Story. Sometimes I wonder if there was anything else that looked that damn good on PS1. With PS2 smoothing the game was beautiful. PS3 upscaling looks awesome as well.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

It's like you didn't even read the subject or the opening topic. :-p

What? He asked for good PS1 games and those are the ones I thought of. I don't understand what the problem is.

You missed the cheap part and $5 part.

Metal Gear Solid fits that, Xenogears missed it by, what, about $15 and Suikoden II misses it by more than $100.

So yeah, you didn't read the subject or the thread.  :-p

Actually, since I am not american, I have no way of knowing how much a PS1 game is going to cost. So, since I don't have that kind of information, I just gave him the names of good PS1 games. That way, when he gets there he will see which are in his price range.

You can look at something like $5 and guess that's a low amount and I'm guessing cheap means the same thing in Brazil as it does in America.  XenoGears, maybe, maybe that could be mistaken, but Suikoden II not so much.

That sucks
I wouldn't pay that much for an old ass game really

How should I know the demand for Suikoden II? All I know is that its a great game.He asked for a game recommendation, so I gave a few.

I dont go around buying games from older generations, so I dont know supply and demand for each game and how any would cost.

If I want to play an old game, I use a PC emulator (not that I would find any original PS1 game in Brazil)

Google, eBay, Amazon, there are dozens of places you can look.

I guess rather than commenting on you not reading the thread, I should be asking if it's a good idea to be giving someone advice if you don't know what you are talking about?

You know what the good games are, you just don't know if they're cheap.  If you don't know if they're cheap, why are you commenting?
