I think your real question (IMO) is not whether or not to get a PS3, but whether or not to get a PS3 NOW.  That is the question I myself have as I am in a similar situation (not a lot of time to play, happy with the offerings on my 360, but interested in playing a few PS3 exclusives).

That being said, I'm holding out for a pricedrop.  There has been so many rumors, and so much noise about one happening, that I'm sure one's coming eventually.

Well ps3 online is free and if you pay for 360 online u could stop and play ps3 online cuz the games are almost all the same
as u said blu ray player(speaking of everything will eventually be blu ray)
great fps games Resistance Call of Duty Killzone 2 and then also tps with RE5 and so on
just like 360's achievements, ps3 has trophies which adds a lot of replay value and plus there is the trophy league here on this site

Well I don't know about convincing you about buying a PS3. But i will let you know that I've been gaming since i was about 5 years old, thats nearly 19 years and I've owned every single consol since the Commador 64 if you'd include it as a consol.

Anyway out of all those consols since i can remember PS3 has brought me the most enjoyable time in its 2 years of ownership. Yeah it's a bit expensive and its last in this gens consols but it has a blu ray player, free PSN and some really great exclusives both psn'retail

If FPS/TPS is all you crave, you'd have to REALLY want Killzone to buy a PS3 for it.

If you want to broaden your tastes, I think the PS3 is a great choice. There are many awesome games -- LBP, Valkyria, Uncharted (TPS elements but also platforming/adventure), etc. that I don't know of any 360 equivalents for.

Mirror's Edge is multiplat, but have you tried that? Short game but good.

Yes I have tried mirrors edge...I absolutely love it! And I am intrigued by KZ2. But I will still keep my XBL subscription so I can play Halo 3 online.

Owning a PS3 > Not owning a PS3.

The best reason I can give you?

Beyond all the fan boy garbage. Kill Zone 2, Resistance 2, Warhawk, Uncharted, God of War III and a whole host of other games will keep you busy after you buy a PS3. It's true that to some, many of these games aren't AS good as Gears or Halo but generally speaking they are great games.

The PS3 provides you a better branch for different game types to broaden your horizons beyond shooters but still provides you quality shooters as well.


And worst case scenario? Your PS3 is a Blu-Ray player (And a good one at that).



Kill Zone 2 is one FPS, that no FPS player wants to miss. Mark my words on that.
