Forums - Gaming - What art style/themes would you like to see explored in games?

One thing about games that bothers me is that so many of them have such similar and uninspired art styles.  I've been playing games for 20 plus years and I'd really love to see game developers exploring a wider range of  artistic styles.  Okami, Wind Waker, and Shadow of the Colossus are examples of games that really stand out because of their amazing art style.

So my question to the board is do you have any art styles that are your favorites, you feel are underused, or that haven't been used in a game at all but should be? Also, any specific artists you would love to see make games?

I'll start- I like to see a game that looks like an animated living stained glass window, and I'd love to see the head artist who's working on that new movie "9" as the art director for a game.

I would like to see a Puzzle game made for high end Gamer PCs with Gfx that are really colourful and strong. Gfxs sort of like real world 'realistic' oranges and lemons, yet simplistic and designed with elegance.

I'm not sure what kind of gameplay the game would have though..

in crafts class somewhere we made pictures by cutting up colored pieces of tissue paper and gluing them together so the light could shine through. That would be an interesting art style to base a game off of.

...

How about a game that looks like animated living da vinci art work on old parchment paper, will all kinds of cool meird machinery.
