Forums - General - Do you believe in Hell?.....are you afraid of hell?

First off all do you believe in hell? Yes or no please explain why.

Personally speaking I am afraid of hell, I believe that a person who lives a bad life e.g. Comitting murder, terorist attacks, rape etc. will receive their judgement in the next life.

My theory has always been that everything we do in this life is recorded, one cannot commit murder and expect not to be held accountable for their actions nor expect to enter heaven. I am a muslim but I am very respectful off all major religions. All major religions encourage us to lead a good life and are there to guide us in this life.

I could never commit a murder or rape simply because I would be afraid of what the consequences of those acions are.  I believe that when a person dies, he/she will be held accountable for their actions in this life, and the good vs bad will be compared and weight. The person that has done more harm than good in this life, will be punished with hell.

I tend to watch a lot of crime shows e.g. FBI FILES, Forensic Files etc. I always wonder the people convicted of savage crimes if they realise that they will be held accountable for their actions, whether they fear hell.

Personally speaking I always try to lead a good life, because at the end of the day I will be held accountable for the life I have lead in this life.

Are you scared of Hell?

I'm Jewish so no and no...

Former something....

I'm agnostic though I do not believe hell as in a fiery pit of eternal damnation exists.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

I do. However, I believe that Heaven will be my home in the end.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

No, and if it did, I know that it wouldn't have mattered because I could never worship a being who would give an infinite punishment for a finite transgression.

It's:

A. No afterlife, so everyone slips into oblivion

B. Afterlife, eternal damnation so I wouldn't have worshiped the god anyway

C. Afterlife, finite/no damnation (torture) so I have nothing to fear.

Isn't that a sin to assume so?

No, I don't know what's after death if anything at all (actually I think there's nothing at all, but I don't assert it), and I don't actually care anyways. When I die, I'll worry (actuall, I won't have to worry...ever again )

There's a difference between believing in your good actions and faith, and taking things for granted. I wouldn't assume he's doing the second one...

I don't believe in hell, the whole idea is just obsurd when I really think about it all. Who knows what happens when we die? We'll find out when the time comes, I suppose!

Hell was conjured up by some monk in some monastery somewhere for use by catholics and whatnot to scare people out of their money.

nope, im an atheist
