Forums - Nintendo - Most underrated Wii games

I think CTYD is way underrated. Since the game's biggest apparent sin is that it does meet some arbitrary graphics standards and that Capcom supposedly didn't spend enough, and I find those to be bogus reasons (have yet to see a shred of proof the graphics would have been improved by spending more), I find the game is put down a lot more than it deserves to be.*

I've stated before there are legit reasons, but these are used far more than the legit ones.

Oh god here we go again. Have you actually played it yet or are you still just running on the fumes that all of us are Wiitards unable to comprehend the basic capabilities of the Wii HW? Certainly Capcom has never been known for doing a lazy job on a title. Last time we spoke you

had not played the game, which was insane based on the argument you werre making. If you haven't played it yet and are

saying it is one of the most underrated games then I'm convinced somebody is paying you or something. PLAY THE GAME. Then we will talk.

Ah, thanks. I heard a bunch of people complaining about that game. The game didn't look too terrible on the videos to me but I guess they might have axed out a lot of zombies. I haven't bothered reading the reviews yet for it either. So I guess that game isn't worth a purchase? I am guessing if it was 10-20 dollars it wouldn't be that bad of a buy.

It isn't terrible. Just really lazy. If you like zombie games and have exhausted the others it is worth a rent or buy (perhaps) at under $20. It is really short though, so a rent should be good enough. Once I beat it it went to the back of the shelf where it will stay until I box up my Wii games for the basement- sometime around 2013. In short zero replay value.

The issue I had with LordTheNightKnight is not (just) a difference of opinion, but the fact that he defended this game without ever playing it, to people who had already beaten it. I compare it to people saying the Conduit is the best game this gen. How the heck would they know?

Fire Emblem definitely that's the only game so far that I've played multiple times
it's a great game very well balanced

i only think that you have a bit too much characters with that many you can't concentrate at all of them that's the only thing in which i found Fire Emblem for GC better

Wii Play.

It's an awesome two player game, And it technically only costs 10 bucks.

Wait a second. Aren't you forgetting the attacks came first? And that they also were without even playing it?

And I'm not claiming the game is good. I'm just stating that bashing the game based on things that aren't true are wrong. I don't even have to play the game to know they are not true. But I have played the 360 version, and the graphics are closer to GTA IV than Gears of War or RE5. Therefore, putting it on the Wii means the graphics are going to be closer to GTA games (but still more advanced, and they are) than RE4, Super Mario Galaxy, or TwilightPrincess. Dead Rising is a scale showcase game, while those are graphics showcase games. Calling Capcom lazy for not making the graphics look like something the game was not designed to look like, is an objectively false cirticism.

As I stated in another thread, it's the same as claiming third party games don't sell on the Wii. Since NPD debunked that months ago, it proves that criticism is objectively wrong. It doesn't matter whether those third party games are any good. The fact is that those sell, and the fact is that the graphics are not lazy in CTYD. The design, layout, and the fact that HD to Wii ports are still rare, all mean the graphics aren't going to look much better than they can be.

And the reasont that makes the game underrated is because it's about as common as claiming it's a cheap cash-in. Since both are false, that means the game is being criticized for bad reasons, thus underrated. Notice that most of the lower scoring reviews are largely centered on those two points.

Wii Music is hated for no good reason -- and ironically it is considered a commercial failure even though it moved 2.5M copies.

Excite Truck is a game that once you get, you see how fun it is. I cannot wait to play Excite Bots this week.

A lot of games are fun -- you just have to take them at face value.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

The vibe I get is the E3 presentation made them decide to hate it more than the actual game.
