I have to admit I haven't played but 3 RPGs this gen.  I really can't tell for sure, and I don't want to go to Metacritic or the like. I just know VC was well-recieved by the critics in general.

I've played quite a few this generation. (23 to be exact, not counting handhelds but PS2 RPGs released since it has started)

It's easily my favorite.

What is so speical about? I played the demo I really didn't like it that much. Once again, can someone please tell me what's so special about this game?

 

I didn't lie the demo so much either. But because I have heard so many good things about it I bought it anyway, and it really is a good game.

Yeah only better game since current gen started was Witcher and even that is only if you read whole 7 books of saga (and you can't play it without pc :D )

The gameplay and characters are great. I didn't like the story; it was kind of boring, and I also didn't like how it was presented, you know bobbling heads missing the lip-synch. Best RPG this gen? Nah, that title belongs to Fallout 3 or The Witcher: EE.
