Forums - Nintendo - Ranger GPS turns your Nintendo DS Lite into a navigation tool!

Want a way to turn your Nintendo DS Lite gaming system from a portable gaming platform into a multitasking device capable of getting you around town without the fear of getting lost? How about a Ranger GPS system?

The Ranger GPS connects to the GBA Port of the Nintendo DS Lite. In addition to a GPS receiver, the unit provides 2D and 3D maps on the top DS display screen to find where you are and where you need to go. It also provides map browsing hotkeys and raw GPS data information on the bottom screen.

The Ranger features a rechargeable battery and claims to have enough memory “for even larger map databases,” according to the product website. And what’s really nice, is that the Ranger GPS can also be used with PDAs and laptop computers via the USB connection, so you aren’t just limited to the Nintendo DS Lite for your navigational needs.

Unfortunately there is no information on the pricing for the Ranger GPS or where it can even be purchased. So it is obvious the company has a few more details to work out before the product hits the market.

I'm still wondering what happened to the one that was supposed to be available for the PSP?

Watch the same people who slag off the PSP for having all of these features come in here and kiss this thing's arse.

No GPS for you DSi!!

Seriously, nice idea if it works good. Now we just need a car mount.

There is one for the PSP! Works very well, best Sat Nav out there IMO.

it's out, i use it all the time, really good satnav with 3D map view. cost about £60 for a top of the range navigation tool.

Damn hard to find though, no shops seem to stock it. Game shops see it as a SatNav, and electronics shops see it as a game. I had to order mine through Amazon. Did see it in HMV once though.
