Forums - Gaming - Name a Stupid Trend in Gaming That You Think Needs to Stop.

Really, though, the only trends that bother me are the ones gamers didn't ask for. People want to play the hot new genre, they want online, they want tacked on multiplayer and other artificial game extenders. If gamers didn't want these things, they wouldn't happen. Only QTEs and some aspects of DLC represent genuine departures from the demands of gamers, as far as I can tell, and neither of them are going to go away regardless.

I agree with most of what you said, with some exceptions (I'm cool with voice chat), but this quote is what really nails it.

Great post.

Quick Time Events.

Careful, Heavy Rain looks like it may do it well.

No, it looks like they're doing them differently; it's still a game full of nothing but QTE's. It looks like it is this generations Dragon's Lair.

carefull ps3 fanboys are everywhere with over 9000 penises waiting for such small girls like you ;)

Psh, people know I've been suspicious of Heavy Rain since day one.  So I'll have CGI-Quality mad at me for a few days, I'll get over it and so will he.

It looks more like a tech demo with some arbitrary controls slapped on as a semi joke to me (Heavy Rain) and I don't believe for one second that this game will be worth much at all, unfortunately. I could be wrong, but I also reserve the right to dislike the product even if reviews are fair or even good, as I have so many times in here.

Heavy Rain is going to be awesome it is going to blow Alan Wake out of the water quality wise and be one of the first games that is almost as mature in theme as a David Lynch film.

Oh god yes.

XBL: WiiVault Wii: PM me  PSN: WiiVault

PC: AMD Athlon II Quadcore 635 (OC to 4.0ghz) , ATI Radeon 5770 1GB (x2)

MacBook Pro C2D 2.8ghz, 9600m GT 512 iMac: C2D 2.0, X2600XT 256

The Wii is outselling the X360 and PS3 in console sales wars. I hate this trend. The good quality games on PS3 and X360 could potentially be impacted upon with a large number of game studios going under.
The budget to make Wii games is significantly less money and time spent on developing Wii games than X360 and PS3 games. Third party developers are getting away with releasing sloppy titles on the Wii due to lazy game development.

a david lynch movie?

maybe we should wait till it comes out to say such a wildly massive overstatement

because i guarantee this is not gonna be blue velvet

youre crazy thinking you'll get david lynch level in a videogame

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Wii Friend Code: 4094-4604-1880-6889

I hate when patches are announced before a game is released. They know the game isn't ready but they will release it anyways and just give it a patch. Why not take an extra week or two (or however long it takes) to fix the problem? Is it that much easier to release a patch?
