Yeah I'd rather ignore the "captured" part and focus on the actually important development which is the higher focus on casuals.
My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957
Only crazy thing here is that they actually think this will work. Then again, it is PR so they are not gonna say that they are stuck in 3rd place.

Someone above pointed it could, I totally agree, n4g hosts VG247's articles and they all seem like diseased sub par luke warm tea tabloid crap.
Hiphop gamer I don't really know anything about, but sadly he's on N4G as well.
I'm Unamerica and you can too.
The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:
"The install base we have now tells us that the hardcore’s purchased"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once again comparing the loyal fans that are the companies lifeblood to a commodity to be bought and sold.
Arrogance thy name be SONY !
I wonder if Sony realizes that casuals will not buy a $400 video game console? A $300 console is even going to be a lot for casuals, considering the 360/Wii will be substantially less.
| Euphoria14 said: Why is everyone attacking here? From what I am seeing he didn't say they captured "ALL" the hardcore users. He is saying that they have captured themselves a hardcore userbase already and are now ready to begin focusing more on casual offerings. Who cares how things are said though, let us just go into attack mode. -_- |
He did say "We’ve captured the hardcore" which can be taken as "all" depending on how you look at it. There wouldn't be as much to get people all huffed up about if he had left that line out and just gone with the "The install base we have now tells us that the hardcore’s purchased. We’re moving on now to continue to support them with a tremendous line-up of games, but also look at softer brands that maybe we had with PS2 franchises we’re bringing over to PS3, or new IP.” IMO.

I wouldn't say that. “There’s certainly a line-up of very strong family-friendly titles that we’re looking at for PS3 in our continuing effort to appeal to that casual consumer,” said SCEA hardware marketing boss John Koller, speaking at GDC. That's pretty ridiculous. I guess they didn't get the memo that casuals don't go for overpriced, overengineered consoles. |
It isn't ridiculous though because he he is talking about their effort which they are in fact doing. Buzz is a great casual game, so is Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Yeah it may be pricey but they are talking about their software, not the hardware or it's prices.
For all we know this "late 2009" thing will include the much awaited price drop as well.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
