Forums - Nintendo - So who bought Broken Sword : Secret of the Templars Directors Cut ?

I got it for the DS, The longest i've ever played a DS for , I was hooked. I had the original on PS1, The DS pointer suited it perfectly . My only gripe ? No voice acting :(

So did some of you like Secret Files?

I found it really disappointing, the puzzles were easy, the story had nothing to do with the Tunguska incident (it was a plot device only), the story wasn't very interesting, it wasn't very entertaining. The game was quite short for a point and click.

Overall a big disappointment for me.

You mean Secret Files 1?

I think it was solid. Not spectacular or anything, but it was logical, long enough, and well put together. Of course it cannot compare to any of the LA gems from the early 90s...

Don't know why LA doesn't make them like these anymore. Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam&Max, Grim Fandango - those games were so special and weird. All you get in today's adventures is uninspired realistic settings, some lame-ass conspiration, a professor, a charmless protagonist. Yaaaaaaawn. Undercover, Runaway, Secret Files... it's all the same. Playing it safe.

I agree, those mentioned by you look very similar, but might I again point you to these games instead: Ceville, The Book of Unwritten Tales, The Whispered World, Perry Rhodan, Goin' Downtown, The Abbey and especially - as you said you like your adventures weird and LucasArts style - A Vampire Story and Edna & Harvey: The Breakout (Edna bricht aus).

No offense, but I wish more people would support the small developers of these games instead of claiming that adventures are not what they used to be (which is partially true, as LucasArts' best talents are missing) or - even worse - that adventures are not developed anymore (I know you didn't claim that, but I see it a lot on this site).

On topic: I bought Broken Sword Wii today and I still wonder why they replaced the great EU/US PC boxarts from 1996 with those generic ones for Wii/DS:

I did. Thoroughly enjoyed the additional puzzles.

I'm playing the game. At 52% now. It's a great game, I just wished that the whole game was re-drawn, the new art is awesome! The old is good too, but feels dated.

^Click on cards to level'em up!!!^ =D

It's amazing and another reason to love the wii, i like the voice acting and the new dialogue pictures

Thanks, some of them look quite promising. Unfortunately I currently don't have a Windows PC, and most of these smaller companies never release Mac versions of their games... but I'll keep an eye on these titles.

Currently playing: NSMB (Wii)

Waiting for: Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii), The Last Story (Wii), Golden Sun (DS), Portal 2 (Wii? or OSX), Metroid: Other M (Wii),
... and of course Zelda (Wii)
