Forums - Nintendo - Project H.A.M.M.E.R officially cancelled.

@ RolStoppable

Do you want to be a Mod? I think you secretly preparing yourself for putsch... it would be the very beginning of my end... you can't...

Meh. Until Nintendo itself says it's cancelled, it's not cancelled.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

Looks like it got H.A.M.M.E.R.ed...

Sorry had to say make that lame joke :P

Am I the only one who noticed that you said the exact same thing when the rumor came out?

Khem... no one cares? I've started this topic to hear some mourning... Are you without heart? Wii is doomed that was one of the most important hard core titles... C'mon guys ! Give me some satisfaction ! ! Yeah it's not Mario but still ! You certainly miss this game !

::chuckle::  I was just glancing over the thread and wasn't going to say anything, because I don't care myself, but since you said this, uhm, yeah, I never cared for the game myself.  The title sounds cool, but anything I read or saw on the game, didn't sound interesting.  Not sure how this was one of the most important hardcore titles.  Seemed pretty lame to me.   8)

More people are interested in Disaster than they are HAMMER, myself included.
But, why is that? We have only seen a 15sec clip on Disaster.
With HAMMER, we had a full demo.

It is mostly because we Imagine that the games will turn out GODLY. They will be the NEXT BIG THING. No matter what, it will be AWESOME. For all we know, Nintendo cancelled it because it just wasn't good. Why is it that most people can't consider such things?

In the end, though, I think it is just easier for people to blame Nintendo for cancelling games that we knew little to nothing about.

It would be a different story if, for example, Mario Galaxy were cancelled, because we have seen tons of videos and demos for the game. We have already drawn conclusions, based on impressions of the game, on the game.

When something like that happens, then I will cry foul.

Disaster I am looking forward to. That one I'd be disappointed about if it was canceled.

Nothing official has been stated on this game. All we know is the game is on hold right now. Although it has a good chance of being cancelled we really don't know yet.

My bets is it is but really wouldn't affect me too much. I never found much behind this concept as it was. But still would have been nice to see where NST would have gone with it.

Whatever they diverted those resources to better be good. Retro Studios cancelled a total of four titles, at least one of which looked very decent, to work on the original Metroid Prime, so it sometimes works out well.

This time the developer doesn't look all that promising though.

True, NST is the worst out of the important Nintendo studios... I hope they are developing Wave Race Wii now instead, cause Blue Storm was the only thing they have really done entirely right till now.

Thanks for praising Blue Storm, it's a great racing game. But there are other good games on NST's list, like Ridge Racer 64 (was very good for it's time, the DS port which is basically the same game feels outdated now), the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games and to a lesser extent 1080° Avalanche.

Metroid Prime Hunters sucked. Blue Storm represents the peak of this studio, since then it has gone downhill. Project Hammer cancelled is nothing to get angry about, it probably was at best an average game, maybe even not fun at all, like twesterm said about 12 times in various threads.

If ckmlb wasn't a mod, I would have sent him a request for nominating himself for the fanboy elimination thread. But mods shouldn't participate in this game, whether it be a nomination or voting. No shams, no stof, no BenKenobi88 as well.

I forgot that they made the Mario vs. Donkey Kong games. The first one was a lot of fun and the second one had a good concept, but it was way too easy and the puzzles were not difficult at all.  I have never become a friend of 1080°, I think it's quite boring. My favourite Snowboarding game was Dark Summit anyways. I have never played Ridge Racer 64 nor the DS version so I can't judge this game.

However, if somebody with my username says that they are "the worst of the important Nintendo studios" it isn't such a bad thing anyway. They're games are still quite enjoyable, but as I said the only big hit they created yet IMO was Blue Storm, and they don't reach the quality that EAD, Intelligent Systems, HAL, Retro and such studios do.
