Trafic.
All relays on internet trafic. That brings them clicks. That brings them new users. That brings them website recognition. And so, the ultimate achievement: publicity banners. That's how they get their money.
Which way is better to attract users? Post the obvious news? No. The tragic ones are the chosen.
Seeing the best soccer team around being kicked in the ass sometimes sells a sh!tload of newspappers. In the gaming industry it works exactly the same. People have to live, gain money to support their families.
So the better they can perform at their jobs, the better it will be for their wallet. Simples as that.
The market leader selling less than the 3rd place machine in Japan for 5 weeks in a row is like gold for gaming websites.
That's why this rant will never stop, and despite everyone knowing that the Wii is undoubtedly the big winner of this generation, there will be always the "Wii is falling" and the "yada yada game from yada yada publisher for the Wii has been flopping" news.
Wii flops get clicks. Because it is about the Market leader. PS360 flops nobody cares about it, they weren't meant to sell a bajillion copies since they're not hot platforms in the worlds mouth such as Wii. Does somebody knows about Mirrors Edge, Banjo Nuts and Bolts or Dead Space Flops? NO, instead people know about Madworld and House of the Dead Overkill flops.
Wii software drought and poor sales in specific regions of the world will instantly gain epic porpotions. Because it is the Wii my friends, the market leader. PS360 underperfomance? Nobody cares about it, they're weren't meant to sell bajillion units like crazy like the Wii. Does anybody knows about X360 mediocre sales in Italy? Or about PS3 mediocre sales last Christmas? NO, people know about everytime the Wii sells less than 25K units in Japan, even if it continues being the top home console in that specific week.
Hope people understands this anytime they see articles like those ones. Discuss.
