Forums - Nintendo - Dementium/Moon developer talks about GTA CW

Dementium and Moon are great games, they didn't sell well, so what this guy thinks about the "GTA Flop"

If they had got 90k in 6 months ...... they'll get their money back. Ok..... How expensive is making a DS game?

What he says is true. And I get obliterated by the fact that people call this a flop in its 2nd month, like DS games have no legs.

People maybe don't remember about brain age 2. It was a flop in opening month. but is already a massive success.

Poor Renegade Kid. They wish their games had the kind of "failure" that GTA:CW had.

Brain Age 2 sold 550k WW its first week....It hit a million in its second week.

3 times the 146k opening the original one had. x.o

I was owned x___X

Ok I'll pick a diferent example. Cooking mama: http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=399

First week: a shameful 29K worldwide. LTD at 3.81 million.

Tcharannnnn :B

The development cost of "moon" I would think was tiny compared to GTA CW. GTA games are not made to make a little profit, it is the one huge franchise 2K has and they expect each game to make huge amounts of profit.

The PSP GTA games have sold 3+ million yet have ignored the console for some time now, that pretty much shows just how much profit 2K expect from each GTA game. Rest assured R* will not be happy with these sales, sure they will be praying that the DS legs kick in a big way but right now for a GTA game? Rubbish sales, simple as that.

Edit - Looking at how Moon is selling I would indeed think the man would be pleased with 60k.

Yeah, although I expect a GTA for wii using motion plus.

I would be happy with a remake of Vice City. Simple as that.

Ubisoft said in 2007 that the average DS game needs 100k to break even so this isn't exactly news.. However GTA: Chinatown Wars indeed would have a much larger budget than your average DS game

Sucks for Moon, it really is a quality game...

Yeah except for the bug at the second level with the car. You're suposed to drive the car from one point to another, but if you park the car uncorrectly in the previous level you'll just find yourself on a car mission level... without the car!!!!!

Sucks.

Were Vice City Stories' sales rubbish, too?
