Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Second Wave of Wii Software: will it be better than the first?

despite  a pretty dry few months nintendo looks set to be unleashing its next wave of software on wii. most teams both external and internal look to be releasing their second wii game.  I hope to be able to comapre these games in terms of both sales( from Vgchartz numbers) and quality. ill be using metacritic for quality as, although not perfect, its the best i could come up with. Itll be interesting to see this develop.

Although a full title of 'second wave' doesnt seem warrented; correct me if im wrong be there isnt much announced beyond S&P2 and Punch-Out in Nintendos main 09 Wii line-up.

@ volataire

theres also excitebots, wii sports resort and the possibillty of trace memory R and endless ocean 2. in japan theres all the new IPs shown last year but whether nintendo is the publisher of these titles in the west remains to be seen. we should see some major software fromnintendo at E3. what form itll take i have no idea

Nice thread! I look forward to see how it turns out! I'd like for you to put down more teams so people can see what teams are working and how long before they can expect news about a game from that team.

I think the second wave of software will begin this year, but it'll be mainly 2010 and 2011 that we see the fruits before Nintendo go knee deep into development of software for the successor to Wii..

The second wave will be much better than the first wave of software, I mean compare Punch-Out to Mario Strikers Charged and you have a fair idea of how the entire second wave will be I think..

OH and EAD 5 did Wii Fit, not EAD 2.. EAD 2 have made Wii Sports, Wii Music and Animal Crossing as their first wave titles..

The smaller-scale stuff will do better than their prequels, but i think it'll be hard to top some of EAD's bigger stuff (namely Zelda and Mario). I mean, everything is only getting better in the field of Wii development, people are getting bigger budgets, more leeway, and the Wii is better understood.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Excitebots - 86

Punch Out - 80

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

@ puffy

i thoght that EAD 5 was EAD Tokyo?
