Forums - General - Be Honest. Do you consider yourself to be smarter than 'the average' ?

Merriam Webster:

Smartness = Mentally Alert, Bright, Knowledgeable, Shrewd, Intelligent

If I were to rate myself on a percentage scale (50% =  Average), I would say that I'm below average. Maybe at 45%, who knows??

Are you smarter than the average human being? :/

No, because I am not.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY

Are you're talking about everyday knowledge or IQ?

Im a new member of Mensa, which is based on IQ. But i dont see me as an above average human when it comes to general knowledge of everyday stuff.

Smartness does not necessarily mean IQ.

Merriam Webster:

Smartness:

mentally alert, bright, knowledgeable, shrewd, intelligent :/

I think myself as above average, I'm quicker than a normal person at understanding things (at least it was always like that in school). Not a genius by any means of the word, but let's say a 55-60%

Congrats!

Yes, significantly above average. Top 10 percentile at least.

Edit:

I agree with highwaystar that relying on your IQ is for sissies.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

First off, IQ does not equal intelligence. I had an IQ of 134 which was officially measured when I was 16. 134 is very high... I am not smart though. IQ measures your ability to work out charming little puzzles.

I am well below average, I am at least in the bottom 25% of my mates for intelligence given the scope in the OP. I am not smart, I'm a hard worker. It is my ability to work hard that has gotten me far in university and will get me far in my post-graduate studies.

As intelligence goes I am a fucking moron though.

I'd say I'm above average

I'm above average. I actually read almanacs for enjoyment.
