Forums - Sony - Main Force behind God of War leaving Sony

Apparently the main man (i have no clue what his name is) who had worked on God of War and God of War 2 is leaving Sony to begin his own game development studio. Sorry if this is old news but I was curious if he had done anywork on Chains of Olympus for the PSP or if that too like God of War 3 would be absent his influence.

Months old. And it's David Jaffe and he didn't work on God of War 2 only 1.

Also, lemme comfort you that 2 was on par with 1 without Jaffe so you don't have to worry about that.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

news to me, o well if he didnt work on 2, 2 was just as good as 1, so i have no worrys

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Ah, I figured this would probably be old news. What's the name of his company btw?

Wonder if Chains of Olympus will fall beneath initial sales expectations like 2 did or if they learned their lesson from 2 and won't ship so many god damn units out to stores. The game sold very well, it just didn't sell well enough to suck up all the stock that vendors are now left with.

Having played neither one, I have an honest, non-fanbaiting question.

How much "new" was done with GOW2? It's not THAT hard to continue down a path someone else has already started to set down. If it was "more of the same, but better", then I'm not sure Jaffe's influence can be minimalized. If it improved and innovated substantially, that's another matter.

well he says he is still working w/ Sony so all is well. And yea I think GoW2 was even better than the 1st so I have no worries whatsoever.

God of War 2 was a great game, but it really wasn't a sequel, it was just a continuation from the first game. The only dissapointment in the game was that it was still painfully short and did absolutely nothing new. In all fairness, how much new can you do with a game that did it so well the first time, but still it felt almost like they were afraid to stray from what Jaffe had help create and as a result the game was a very timid attempt at going beyond its predicessor.

I worry the sequels may suffer the same fate of being exactly the same game over and over, but to be

honest, that doesn't seem to bother the fans or sales.

I only got to play partial of 1, so 2 was like a new game to me

Overall i would of given 2 a 8.5-9.5 only reason 8.5 so low is cause of how short it was but it really was fun, just wish there was more boss battles!

And it was like a new game to me, having never completed GoW 1

All in all its a series that will never dissapoint gamers, but unfortunately its a series that will never do anything what-so-ever new I'm afraid if they keep this up. Chains of Olympus will probably be a border line port of the PS2 games so that will be similar but GOW 3, let's just hope Sony doesn't make the six-axis manditory for that one.
