You are seriously underestimating the WM+, it will be definitelly a big system-seller, similar the relaunches of the DS series.

I think 60% is clearly possible with that, and even more, if there will be other similar updates.

No, you are overestimating it.

The wii hasn't had a single price cut and the price can go waaaay down :)

Then there's still the option for more colour in wii's to boost sales. WM+ is underway with wii sports resorts which will see sales like wii fit. You're underestimating it :)

Wii is tracking 20M over the ps2 atm, so really why bash the wii?

The only bad situation the wii really has atm is in Japan.

I think 70% marketshare in the console space will be unachievable for a long time, Nintendo have completely changed the market. I don't think we'll see PS2 or GB style domination any more.

How has wii "completely changed the market"? It has expanded the market to some degree but that's about it.

casual games like Wii Fit and Mario Kart are now selling 15 million and more because of Wii, this is a complete change!!

Wii Fit outsold the GTA IV by far, Mario Kart outsold by far Halo 3 and it won't stop, how is that not a big change!?

best selling games this gen are mostly casual games than hardcore, and this is huge change!

Wii is going to fly in market share when Wii Sports Resort and motion plus comes out

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

It is tracking 4,8m better than PS2 from the launches. I don't think WM+ will sell consoles as much as wii fit does. After all, it will not peak interest of the "oprah crowd".

When are you expecting a wii pricecut?

A year from now. Perhaps later.

I'm sure wii sports resort will sel atleast 15M copies though

According to this site the wii is tracking 18M over the ps2 though, I don't know if it's correct or if I'm doing something wrong lol.

As far as I know, mario kart is considered a "core game" with casual appeal. Well anyway, that sounds more like expanding the market than changing it. Traditional games are still selling, you know?

You just hope it will, in reality it will most likely not. :)

I actually expect wii sports resort to sell better then wii fit.

44M people have played the game? It's cheaper to buy WM+ bundled with wii sports resorts then to buy it separetely, it's casuel, it's fun, it will be a lot cheaper then wii fit,etc

That are the reasons why I think it will sell better.

This is true- if it goes down to $100 even I might consider it (especially if i find good collection of old Nintendo machines rpgs on online store)

Esa-Petteri is right when he's saying Wii isn't the next PS2. Wii is selling faster than PS2 but marketshare is a different factor. The question is which situation is better - having 70% or 50% market share. I think it's healthier for the video game industry not having huge gaps in market share.

That is the pricepoint for me, if WM+ will be included. But that is still assuming that there will be games that will peak my interest. :P

"When are you expecting a wii pricecut?"

Probably not for a while lol.

And I think the Wii can outsell the PS2 in lifetime sales, but I do however agree I don't think it will achieve as much as the marketshare as the PS2 did. Only because it has better competition :D. And like many have said, more people are now into gaming now XD.
