^^^I found the fail.
It would take the PS2 around another year to reach current Wii sales (low supply included).
Leading console this gen has sold ~19M more than last gen leader after ~2.5 years on the market. |
Where do you get your numbers? Just check the sales per region. You can see how each console has sold from their launches! With a nice graph!
Just out of curiosity, when some (crazzyman or leo-j) said that ps3 is tracking almost as good as ps2 did you notice how a lot of people whined that he used aligned launch for ps2?

As a Crazzyman fan and historian, I have to object. He wasn't forcing aligned launches. He was coming up with his own magical "first full year on market" system, which meant the PS3 didn't count until 2008 started, even though it launched in late 2006. He was waiting until the European launch in 2007, and then all the way until January 2008. It was the only way he could make the PS3 compare favorably to the PS2, and even then, it didn't work.
History happened the way it did for good reasons. We should learn from that, instead of trying to rewrite history. The PS2 had supply issues, and the Wii had supply issues. We compare them from the first day of their first launch. Trying to pull off a successful simultaneous worldwide launch is one of the hardest parts of launching a system. It's not Nintendo's fault that they pulled it off with the Wii and Sony didn't pull it off with the PS2. We don't have to look at PS2's launch with rose-tinted glasses because of that. You're the one who's fudging the numbers in a pseudo-Crazzy fashion.
But I know CrazzyMan. And you sir, are no CrazzyMan!!!

Umm, no. I am using the numbers as they are. How long each console has been on market. No "fudging" there. You on the other hand are saying some things like "but... but... wii was supply constrained" and so on.
|
Every system that has ever been made has been supply constrained at its launch.
I'm not making a special case for the Wii. You're making a special case for the PS2 to downplay the Wii's success in comparison.
