Forums - Sony - Should RESISTANCE 3 be TPS instead of FPS?

Resistance: FoM has far outsold Resistance 2. It seems that fans of the original lost interest and didnt buy the sequel.

 

Sony has it's big time FPS in KillZone 2. MAG is also coming out which is FPS and dwarfs Resistance's multiplayer online capabilities.

 

It's obvious that this franchise needs some sort of change. My suggestion: Turn it into a cover-based Third Person Shooter a la Gears of War.

This won't happen. Resistance 3 will stick to FPS. And at the moment, Resistance 2 has sold more copies at the same point Resistance 1 was out...

R2 wont have the same legs that R:FoM had.

Especially now that KZ2 is out. A lot of fans will come to "should I buy KZ2 or Resistance 2?" and end up buying KZ2 instead because it has more hype.

Which is exactly why Resistance should be changed to TPS. Sony now has it's elite FPS Franchise in KillZone. Change Resistance to TPS to differentiate it from KillZone so that consumers will buy BOTH games, instead of just one.

I would like resistance to go TPS but won't happen. Has a franchise ever changed from fps to tps or tps to fps? I highly doubt it. Just keep it FPS and that way the ps3 stays the FPS console.

No they should leave it as is. If you think Sony needs a good TPS, they should make a new IP not change a succesful game just because there is another similar game. This would be like changing Gears to FP because Halo is TP. It makes no sense.

r2 didnt sell like rfom because the bundles and it was a launch title so there was nothing else to choose from really

Leave it as it is. Fans of Resistance are fans because of the frantic gameplay and storyline. Changing it to a TPS changes the pacing of the game, and you won't FEEL like you are playing as Nathan Hale (or whoever you use in part 3).

Only thing that comes to mind is Red Faction

Red Faction 1&2 - FPS [PS2 and Xbox I believe]
Red Faction 3/Gurilla - TPS [PS360]

OT: I doubt they will change it... My thoughts on the series - Get crackin' on a new IP.

i liked the ending of resistance 2 and would appreciate another title. but i really didnt like how either of them played, so doing something different and unique would be nice.
