Forums - General - Fox, what the eff?

What is it with Fox and their cancelling of all the awesome TV shows?

There was Space, Above and Beyond, The Tick, Firefly, Family Guy, and now Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles. Dollhouse will probably be next.

Firefly probably hurt the most; I wish it would come back, a la Family Guy.

I love the episode of Family Guy when they come back from being canceled and Peter lists all the other crap shows that needed to fail for them to "come back".

Family Guy isn't running anymore? Wtf?

family guy got cancelled in 2001, but then because of the insane fan support and the ratings it got from reruns from Cartoon network, Fox decided to bring it back. Don't worry, its still on

Why didn't you list Futurama!!!!!!  I like it better than Family Guy and The Simpsons.  Ah, not too bad for my 1,000 post.  Proclaiming Futurama is the best!

Well Futurama had a pretty decent run, though. It ran for like 5 years or something. I love futurama, but I'd also be pretty satisfied if Firefly was given a 5 year run.

Yea, it had a good run but it would have been nice if it went longer. The cartoon I loved the most that only went 4 seasons was Home Movies. That cartoon rocked! At least I guess Futurama is doing the whole dvd movie thing. I wish Brendon Small would do at least a dvd movie for Home Movies.

Anyways on topic, that blows Terminator Series is canceled.  I only saw the first few episodes but it looked pretty damn interesting (plus I love anything Terminator).

Futurama was cancelled? I thought it was just kinda... over. Hmmmm... Oh, wasn't it cancelled because the creator didn't want to sell the rights to Fox or something?

Either way, I heard a few years ago that they're making movies or new episodes for the show... I'm going to look into that right now.

You know what the uber lame part about it is? Fox isn't counting Tivo or Hulu numbers. For friday nights, their ratings hover around 2-3, which is pretty horrible, but understandable; since most young adults go out and do stuff on friday nights. (and most other friday night shows do about the same)

Well guess what, Tivo + Hulu + Broadcast views add up to something like 7 - 10 million views, which pretty much kicks ass.

However, Tivo + Hulu doesn't account for any ad revenue, so Fox ignores the numbers and looks only at the TV broadcast numbers.

You will now have millions of pissed internet fans who followed the show on hulu.

Fox can be so retarded sometimes.

I know fox seems to stand out, but there have been plenty of great shows that have been cancelled while still young on other networks. the critic, clerks, pushing daisies.

I know people like to rag on fox for shows like arrested development, but ratings is ratings. that show's lucky it got more then one season. fox gave it a chance cause of all the emmy's but it never caught on.

As for firefly, the fans demanded more content and they got a movie. It made 25 mil on a budget of 39 mil. Sadly, somethings just aren't as in much demand as people believe. Heck, my favorite show on tv, 'friday night lights,' is lucky it hasn't been cancelled 10x over with its ratings issues.
