Ghostbusters Game Upfront About Its Differing Art Styles

Atari's Ghostbusters: The Video Game is coming to every platform it possibly can. Obviously those various ports are going to be very different. The Nintendo DS experience isn't going to match the PlayStation 3 experience.

Atari's being very clear about this with the game's box art. The Wii, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS versions get the caricature version seen on the left, while the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC versions get the more photo realistic version on the right. The aesthetic even applies to the game's cover specters, with slightly less menacing ghosts featured on the lower-definition, E-10+ rated version.

Not totally unexpected, but a rare instance of a publisher being so forthcoming about the platform differences on the box art.

I much prefer the style of the Wii one.

But I'd get this game for PS3/.

*sighs*

What can you say? The guys at Atari know their audience.

Is Atari trying to say that the Wii is for kids? o_O

I think they're just playing towards the system's strengths. The 360/PS3 versions are going to excel in the graphics/atmosphere department. The Wii version is going to have to sell itself as the "fun" version. I do admit, that the "caricatures" look a little more bad ass than the realistic version on those covers. If I buy one version, I'd go for the HD version. If my kid was somehow interested in Ghostbusters (since there hasn't been a new movie since 1989, that would amaze me!), I'd get the Wii version.

To tell you the truth I actually really like the Wii art style. People keep complaining about Murray's character but I think it looks great.

The Wii art looks like it has characters from Disney's Incredibles.

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

ha i think the wii box looks awesome and way better. probably not gonna get this game though

i dont care, im just mega excited. i love the ghostbuster films and i used to have the toys, the sticker books and then bought the game on my master system. i even love the soundtrack and the logo and costumes. this game has been a longtime coming and i cant wait.

i will go for the hd version since i believe it will give more and better bang for the buck, but ideally, i would love sony if they released a hybrid BR version as well. that would be a dream come true!
