Forums - Sales - Sony PlayStation 3 Outgrow Nintendo's Wii Sales in Japan!

I usually don't like the PS3, or Sony PR, but I am proud of the PS3 for this one.

Nintendo has gotten complacent with their success and Sony took advantage. The Monster Hunter G release is being counteracted by the FF7AC/FF13 bundle. So it seems as if the PS3 has April and May locked as well.

For a month due to Resident Evil 5 and Yakuza. Hooray for Sony.

Lets see what MH3 will do for the Wii.

2 months! and going for another week with FF7 ACC bundle and and costing 211$ vs 400$!

without FF13 or versus being released =D

I'd normally respond to ElectronicRocker's post, but since he's already been banned and it's full of misinfo., I'll just pass :P.

I will say congrats to Sony, but they have had price cuts, new bundles, and of course getting great games lately, something I hope Nintendo would follow up on before they turn into Sony post-PS2 generation. Although, I do not doubt Nintendo will release some big "blockbuster" titles (and when DQX hits, it will skyrocket, almost guaranteed).

I'd be happy if the Ps3 sales were at 61k per week people saying this is a turn around would be right if the PS3 at least was keeping 30kish per week.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

price cuts? when? the last price cut was in 2007. ps3 still cost over 400$ and 505$ the FF7 AC bundle

^One price cut is still greater than no price cuts. And as to when, 2007, and I still stick by my other points, they have had LBP, MGS4 and now FFXIII bundles, while Wii has had the same Wii Sports bundle since launch. I can almost guarantee if they decided to bundle The Conduit with it, Wii number in NA and PAL would sky rocket n_n.

The point is more that the Wii is experimenting the biggest YoY drop in sales in console history ( aside of course from console that suddenly stopped being sold by retailers).

Seeing as it's also by far the best-selling home console in history, that's not even remotely as devastating as you make it sound.

i think in japan it's trailing behind the ps2. but america sales and european sales put it above in worlwide sales.

It is not in Japan.

The PS2 has sold more console there than the Wii can ever hope too.

The current trend is starting to make you wonder if the Wii will outsell the SNES too.

The NES looks out of reach for the Wii too.

So at best the Wii is fighting for the 3rd best spot there..

And how is that bad?? The Wii will still be the best selling console ever when it passes the PS2. I am sure Nintendo right now are shaking in their pool of money about an insiginificant region where they lead by 2:1 in sales over the competition combined.

This is a thread about Japan.

The Wii ain't ever passing the PS2 or the NES there....

And even worldwide, the Wii still has a long way to go before catching the PS2...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !
