And if you take away Xbox 360 American sales then what does it have left? That is the counter-argument to your saying of Japan is saving the PS3. Yea I can admit the PS3 is last in American sales console and games wise? But does not stop me from enjoying the console and its games. Tell me this. Does the 360 suck bad because it comes last in Japan? Your answer: Heck, no. Thats the whole point.

Hell yes, I cry myself to sleep at night when I consider how many of the war chest coffers Microsoft spent on JRPG's
On a more serious note, I wrote that last post to highlight why I think it's wrong to cherry pick specifics. This thread was started with NPD data as a source because it does highlight sales trends in the US. Sure the worldwide picture for Sony is a lot better than the Americas but given its the second biggest market, and Japan is shrinking it's a pretty important place to study trends of why the PS3 is fairing worse than it should. In the past many people claimed the 360's shooter catalogue drove its hardware sales, now KZ2 receiving a somewhat muted entry (by some peoples expectations) it shows this hasn't necessarily been the case.
I wonder how many people dismissing these numbers ever seriously considered Halo Wars would give Killzone 2 a run for its money, even if just short term?
@CGI - My thoughts exactly, both sold very well when you consider the time of the year and the demographics they're selling to.
Halo Wars was launched in March, whereas Killzone 2 was launched in February (and saw the majority of its sales in the first few weeks).
A bit of a red herring since as mentioned earlier KZ2 released on Feb 27 and Halo Wars on Mar 3.

If you add the Killzone 2 February NPD sales figures (323,000) to this month, then technically the OP's title is right. If it's more the assumptions made in the analysis of this being unexpected then I'd probably agree with you being right to a degree.
Sorry I'm posting so much tonight guys, staying up for the F1 practice soon :)

I actually don't really care. I just want to show that it's not that big of a gap. As far as I'm concerned, this is just a trolling thread.
I will end all of this hate. Halo ONLY sells if it has MASTER CHIEF on the cover. Ok everyone?

Look at him. He could run Microsoft if all I care.

You'd hope it would go a long way past two million. It was meant to massively shift consoles and did not. Based on some of the rumoured development budgets, it's still conceivable the game won't make a profit.
In fact this is particularly likely given all the bundling that's occured.
starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS
AHAHAHAHAH this is like when 360 fanboys wer defending SO4 using the 360 user base in Japan when it didn't even beat WKC a new IP " Ohhh but look @ the user base 1m vs 3m it's expected" LULZ!!!
