I thought GT3 had more than that, maybe 400.

Over at the GTPlanet Forums, A cryptic message has been posted and now “decoded”. Check the Rumors after the break.
- Simultaneous worldwide GT5 release March 2010. (12 months - 30 days) - 600 cars and 96 tracks, some of which are modelled from previous releases. - Customisable user created tracks - Multiplayer with voice chat, clan/team support - Two versions to be released. One full version - more expensive, one cheaper, but able to download and customise what is required. eg Blu Ray/PSN editions? - Another platform release - one that “has not been uncovered”. PSP2 perhaps? Well I guess we will have to wait until E3, what does everyone think? Do these seem reasonable? http://dlb-network.com/2009/04/rumor-gt5-info/
Some interesting stuff. Only 600 cars? I was hopinf for over 700 cars.

1. I highly doubt 2 versions. Super-Duper-Highly doubt. The idea doesn't even make sense.
2. I doubt PSP2. I think way too many people are expecting this to come way soon.
3. Bitching about 600 cars? Wow. Just wow..

a limited edition/collectors edition doesnt make sense? yeah psp2 doesnt make sense either. they said they are doing a 4000 revamp for this year and it would make sense to pull an MS like the xbox and prematurely kill it after a revamp. support the 4000 for a year. then they still have room with price the following year prolonging its life for at least 2 years.

Indeed, when I played GT4... I wasn't intersted in doing a Ford Fiesta race in the mountain.... If I play a Racing Videogames, it is to drive sportcars I will never be able to afford...no ones that are slower than my real car |
i play racing game because i dont want to race with my sports car..... im sure you can afford a fast sports car because... we'll because i did. its easy to find an old model with low miles for cheap. i bought a '94 3000gt(222hp) with 70k miles for less than 4 grand. with a couple hundred dollars you can easily get it to 250hp. wait till the clutch wears out and for only a little more than you are spending you can put in a performance clutch and flywheel. already you will have a pretty fun car to drive. after those mods though the next steps become increasingly expensive. like 1500 just for parts for a new exhaust. that would only give you like 15hp to. hp to dollar ratio isnt worth it to me unless you want to race. you wont be the fastest car on the road but youll beat alot of punk kids who think they are cool in their base model stangs. and itll be a fun drive. BTW - my top speed is 110mph on streets snd didnt wanna go any faster.
@Sardauk
In Gran Turismo , driving a car "slower than yours" can be a real challenge and FUN, if you are driving on the right track and against other slow models.
If there are two versions, I'm betting on a 60 dollar pack and a collectors edition or w/e for like 90. Those with 60 pay for DLC while those that bought the collectors edition get all the DLC at no extra charge.

As long as you brought it up, I love to play GT, it has inspired me to love fast cars in real life as well.
I used to have a 3000gt, but then the engine exploded... and everyone would always ask about the VR4 which I never had. Now I drive a MazdaSpeed3. It is pushing 300hp after a turbo back exhaust and cold ait intake mods.
My top speed is 143mph on the streets. But despite all of this, I promise you I am not a douchebag.
Point is, GT will always offer something real life doesn't- even if you have the monney... Nobody is gonna be racing a GTR at 180 in this lifetime.
At least, not unless you play GT5 when it comes out.
