Forums - Gaming - Prototype vs Infamous...which is better and why

Im really excited for prototype the game just looks more original than infamous. The powers look cool and it will have lots of gameplay elements to it with stealth, combat with all your shapeshifting powers, driving, and the fun of climbing and jumping. Also the way it tells the story with you sucking the memories out of people is very creative and unique

Infamous will probably be really good also i just like prototype more

um the winner has been announced. ign declared infamous effing awesome and a must buy. and saying also THEY ARE NOT THE SAME but if u wanna compare infamous famously rips prototype.

Putting the Box back in Ninlen!

and saying that one of the two games is more mature of sophisticated than the other makes you sound like a tool. There both just action games where you kill bad guys or civilians if you want with stereotypical dark tough looking male characters and good and evil systems have been done before and dont really add depth to a story, but maybe infamous can do it in a less shallow way than they have been in the past

Original? Have you ever heard of Spawn? Because that is what Prototype stole the ideas from. Shapeshifting, body morphing weapons, flying, jumping, absorbing. All of that is spawn. With a little bit of Hulk + Spiderman.

And Infamous is just as original/unoriginal with the abilities as PT. Storm/Static Shock/ THe Apprentice/Magneto/Altair all are very similar to Cole's abilities. He uses electrons to create magnetic repulsion shields, electrical blasts, skate on powerlines, climb building, charge physical attacks with electricity,static grenades, etc. Although Infamous has Karma dynamics, realistic physics for electricity conduction, and a cover system.

Oh, and Cole ALSO can see the past memories of people by reading their electrical empulses in their brains. So that is not exclusive to Prototype.

Did I mention Infamous also has better graphics than Prototype by like a mile?

You can be stealthy in Infamous as well, just depends on how you approach certain situations.(thats where the cover system kicks in.) And really, there is nothing stealthy about someone who runs through the city slaying everyone in sight, or eating people whole. Sinister, not stealthy.

And Cole's yellow and black track suit and backpack trumps Prototypes dirty hoody anyday :P

see thats just it. Infamous's Good/Evil meter IS different. The way the missions are set up in Infamous you will not just be mindlessly killing and causing havok if you choose the "infamous" route. The only reason why Cole might do a "bad" thing is to in turn do a good thing.

Case in point.......

@cloud

yah i guess your right there both the same on the same on the originality scale i just liked turning into the people you kill in prototype a lot. I didn't know infamous was gonna tell its back story in a similar way also, but i haven't seen or read as much on infamous as i have on prototype and that moral system video was pretty stupid imo it seems shallow so im still not a fan of that and honestly i don't give a shit which game looks better graphically Also i dont know for sure if i will like prototype or infamous ill have to wait until i play them

@dante
if you prefer shapeshifting then I geuss there is no question for you then. Yet I would still reckomend looking at some of the infamous videos or interviews for info on the game. It is a whole lot deeper then most think.

Take the karma for instance. You say the video looks shallow. Probably the food one mostly right? Well what the video doesn't show you(but was revealed in IGN's preview) is that even if you do give the people the food.....they end up hating you because of this stupid guy on tv who blames you for the explosion that destroyed part of the city. The crowd you just helped becomes angry with you and actually tries to KILL you. If you had just taken the food and left, they wouldn't of had the chance. So now the issue becomes more complex. There is said to be other instances where technically doing the "right thing" gets you hated by some of the people. Its not that black and white.

that is pretty cool, poor cole and the stuff in the ign preview sounds cool, but ill have to wait until the game actually comes out to see how it all works out and if i like the karma system

I just love the way his evil electricity bounces off of buildings, check out the screenies below:

He throws some fire

It starts hitting the building

It splinters off after hitting the building and bounces towards the ground

More splinters of electricity and check out the red glow on the building.

Absolutely lovely.  One of the nice simple but effective things that make this game stand out for me.

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

That karma vid is badass.

I'm still worried about the game's length and replay value - I read that it's about 10 hours long. What I'm really hoping is that there'll be some way or place where you can just keep going for action, kinda like being able to start a massive battle with the cops anytime you want in GTA4, but unlike Fallout 3 where character deaths are permanent making it harder and harder to get find stuff to blow up.

I'll wait for some reviews/comments once it's out
