Book publisher Dorling Kindersley has signed a deal to produce the officially licensed Halo Encyclopedia.

The book will be a comprehensive guide to the Halo universe. It'll cover characters, weapons, vehicles and equipment featured in all the games, plus forthcoming expansion Halo 3: ODST.

Microsoft is collaborating on the book and development director Frank O'Connor will write the foreword. A whole 352 pages are promised, all in full colour. Good news, Continental Europeans - it'll be published in "many territories and in foreign languages".

DK exec Alex Allan is jolly excited: "Halo has always fascinated the creative team at DK, many of whom are avid gamers, and we had the full support of Halo’s very experienced team to create this spectacular book," he said.

The Halo Encyclopedia will be released in November.

Halo only? Bungie still insists that all common things between PiD, Marathon and Halo games is huge coincidence? Sad. Personally I'd be glad to see full Bungie mythos guide in one book.

of course it only Halo, why?? you only need a bit of common sense for that.

Halo is now Star Wars in this regard.
