Okay I just finished Dragon Ball Kai episode 3.
This show is bad-ass, I had forgotten. It's like the condensed essence of all things shounen.
You know what? I think I am going give anime a chance. I think I'll start with Cowboy Bebop or DragonBallZ.

The reason they are doing the new show is because the original moved away from the manga about half way in. Aparently the end etc was all something they made up. They've supposedly done the same with soul eater. If you'll notice, chars this time around resemble their manga versions more (you can see this by their changed appearance)
It's not as dark as the original fma.. It's still interesting though.. and i haven't seen fma in years so it's nice to watch the new one for me :p

Watch dragonball Kai instead of Z. It's Z but remastered, revoiced and with all the crap cut out XD
(some of the fillers were good.. but a large portion of them werent)

The problem with that is he can't get into it very well when he has to wait a week between episodes. Works for those of us who watch anime all the time, but not people who are trying to start it up for the first time.
Don't do DBZ. It will drive you away from anime forever. In fact, never watch DBZ. Once DBK is completed, watch that. Just never watch DBZ.
Cowboy Bebop is a great start. If you want something else similar, I actually generally recommend Outlaw Star before Cowboy Bebop because people don't build up those ridiculous expectations for it.

DBZ was my first anime and I loved it, I remember coming home everyday after school to see the next episode.. It's what got me into anime. Also, arn't you supposed to watch it weekly? I believe teh internetz have spoiled you :P.

You had nothing better to compare it to, and it is very nostalgic. Of course you love it. DBZ is way too drawn out. It makes Naruto looked fast-paced.

Dragon Ball Kai looks great!
Also since it counts I've got a certain someone watching Avatar. I'm also rewatching it myself.
I like this series a lot.

The only issue with dragonball kai is that i have the manga.. And i really really like the dragonball story so i've read it a few times.. and somehow i manage to notice if they skip something that happens in the manga. It's like Noe! XD
Oh and on another note. They should have started dragonball Kai at the original dragonball and run it all the way through the story. The first 16 books are some of the best. They have so many more elements then just "get stronger, kill guy OMG STRONGER GUY .. now we shall train to kill him !" Had a lot of adventuring and stuff... Also had a lot more humor and the drawing style was more laid back XD) I recently saw the anime for dragonball book 1-16 for the first time(it's the period where he's growing up) and it was great XD it was hard finding it uncensored but once i did. It was good times.
I'm actually glad they didn't redraw it. Because when you look at the dragonball kai intro, the chars are drawn in a different style then they were originally. Both in the anime and in the manga... they look like they did very late in the manga.. And not how they do at the time period we're in. Infact the retelling of dragonball also had that issue. Son goku didn't look like son goku. So i'm glad they're just fixing up the original.
If they were able to redraw it properly though.. then it would be freakin awesome :p
