Forums - Gaming - 360 exclusivity has “helped” Gears of War, says dev boss!

I completely believe this. Afterall, when your game is the cornerstone of the holiday releases for a console its obviously gonna do better then if its just another multiplat release...ala army of 2 or mercenaries 2.

Now they should ask Gurilla games and Insomniac the same question.

GG belongs to sony, their answer can't be any different...simple as that. As for Insomniac, they've stuck with sony through thick and thin and we still don't have details on the relationship. Sony is probably even paying for all their games. How is this different from the gears situation?

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

It isn't...just wondering what their asnwer would be...

Gears of War could have done Halo 3 numbers. How?

The same way GTA IV did. Exclusivity does not "help" third parties. PS3 and 360 have been getting bitch-slapped by Nintendo every single week for almost two years now. Developers should realize that going multiplat. would help their cause.

@CGI

Well of course whats the point of releasing Geow 3 on ps3 while the first two is exclusivly to 360...not only it would not sell as good as 360 because it's fans are in that system (like RE5, SF4 and DMC4 on ps3) and it will also be confusing for ps3 owners as they won't understand the story (just like mgs4 if they release it to 360)

Yes and no. Established franchises I believe are better off multiplatform. However, imagine if Gears of War was multiplatform and MS never published it. What third party publisher would have spent as much money and exposed the game as well as MS did? Notice that Unreal Tournament 3 went that route and the game tanked hard. Would Gears really still be as huge? I doubt it.

After having established the series though, Epic is now at a point where they could look towards moving the series as multiplatform as a benefit for sales. However, I'm fairly sure MS will lock the series up further to make up the difference.

working on one console definitely will improve any games...
because your only focus to only one console...
therefore maximizing the potential of that game to be beautiful
and not to worry other consoles to run it also
