Of course Sony's 10 year plan failed.. They thought they'd be having a little under PS2-like success but over a longer period so that eventually they'd have as much or an even larger install base. The PS3 will last around 7 or maybe even 8 years only because Sony will push it for as long as they possibly can and it has a lot of room on it's price..

However that said, they will release a console in 2012, i'm sure of that.. 10 year plan doesn't mean no console for 10 years, PS3 came out in the 6th year of the PS2's life and that console is very much what Sony aimed for with their 10 year plan.

yah thats right ps3 may bot go full 10 years but going 8 years is still not a failure!!n sony may also release the next console in 2012 but i hope they release it in 2013 n be smart about it

Nintendo will release their next console first judging by the lack of third party support, as we all know from past generations the console with the most third party support will live the longest and this is no exception. Third party have already decided to bring most of the support to the HD consoles. We also began to see from current sales data that the wii is slowly but surely droping closer to each HD console, When their price start to come down then their sales will start to elapse to Wii's user base because its in our human nature we'll look for upgrade in better stuff(graphic) to statisfy our wants.

You haven't been here long so I'll forgive you :)

It's funny you bring up third party support because I'm actually quite positive that Wii has the most retail games available on any current generation system.. It's also important to note that Activision makes the most money off Wii, EA have stated that half their titles will be Wii titles this year and the other half divided between PS3 and 360. EA Sports Active is a Wii exclusive and will have the same marketing budget as Madden has and Madden is a multiplatform game.. Go figure.. Wii is their lead platform for Tiger Woods, EA Sports is getting a new franchise in Grand Slam Tennis which will be exclusive to Wii this year.

Ubisoft will have a 'from the ground up' platformer in Rabbids go home coming to Wii this year that has been in development for a whole 3 years so far, that's right the Rabbids minigames have been funding a game for the gamers and look out because Red Steel 2 is also coming soon to a Wii near you, can anyone say exclusive?

I can go on and on but the point I'm trying to make here is that even if your argument of 'console with the most third party support lives longest' is true (which I'm telling you right now, is completely false) it still doesn't prove your point that Wii will be first to go..

Also the market that the Wii is targeting wants more Wii Series games, pick up and play titles, that's what that market 'wants' so they certainly won't want a PS3 or 360 just because it can out put to a prettier resolution. Unless they come up with games that these people really want, Wii will be on the market probably until 2015 along side its successor.

Well it's a failure in that it wasn't 10 years of a 10 year plan but no in terms of system life, 8 years is by no means a failure.

However I think the PS3 will end up being a failed product by the end of its life as it will probably only barely break even if it does.. It does have one thing going for it though, it helped Blu-Ray win the system war with HD-DVD and perhaps the profits from Blu-Ray will end up outweighing the losses from the PS3.

Sony just need a clearer business plan and create a product for the consumers not a product for the hardware fanatics. Doesn't mean they shouldn't strive for the best but they should know their limits.

you can count on it. Late 2011 release is everything but set in stone.

define arrogance please. Please don't tell me that you percieve the meaning of arrogance as; putting the latest technology(Blu-ray, cell etc.) in a console, or selling the console at a massive loss.

Captain Obvious to the rescue! Don't you remember Sony's 10 year plan. Pretty good odds the next xbox will launch first...

I expect Xbox 720 in 2010, 2011 at the latest.

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

In my opinion their arrogance is that they released the ps3 without thinking much about it...they should have come up with a smaller price and not act like they own the whole game industry!!n dont think that i dont like sony im a ps fan!!
